Can anybody point me in the right direction? I have almost a half shoebox full of old coins. Roosevelt dimes, silver quarters (some from 1900), etc... What will it cost to get an appraisal? Is now a bad time to sell? What should I look for?

Thank you so much!

Condition is critical in determining value. Rare coins are worth more than commons. Commons frequently are worth about their metal value; making now a pretty good time to sell in that regard.

For example, most silver Roosevelt dimes in uncirculated condition are worth only slightly above the value of the silver. A very few--such as the 1949-51 S coins--are worth more than that, but generally not much more than $25 each.
