We (me, DH, DS6, DS1)will be staying at OWK in January for a week. This will be our first time staying there. Where can I go to find information on what to request? I know it is a very large resort. We picked it because it would have to most room in a one bedroom for our family. We will not have a car. We recently stayed in a value studio at AKV Jambo House. It was just too small. Our youngest DS just turned one. It was difficult to have the pack n play set up along with the fold out bed along with space for our double stroller.

I think the one bedroom at OKW will be much better for our family, but I don't know what area is better than others.

Thanks for any help!

Google WDW OKW map and you can see how the resort is laid out.

I stay there quite often and prefer the HH area because it is a short walk to all of the resorts amenities, (even though I always have a car) such as dining, main pool, general store, transportation (buses and DTD ferry), rentals, community hall, recreation, etc.
Buildings 11-14 and 23-26 are the ones included in the HH area and is a guaranteed booking catagory.
Here is a map of the resort:

OKW buildings are 2 or 3 floors. Most building do NOT have elevators. Only elevators are in buildings 62, 63 and 64. If stairs will be a problem with the kids, request a ground floor or one of the 60s buildings.

Also units with buildings under 30, the entrance to the bath room is via the master bed room. In buildings numbered 30 and above a second door from the laundry room is available.

Have a great trip.

I prefer HH, but keep in mind that that area is a "booking" catagory, so you need to have it available when you book and it will say "near Hos. House" on your confirmation. My only criteria if not booked at HH is to be near a pool.

I was going to start a new thread to ask a couple questions because I too am staying at OKW for the first time soon, but I'll just see if any of you can help :) Is there a walkway connecting the OKW and SSR? Now that we're new dvc owners  I'd like to check out SSR for future reference. Also, can you walk from OKW to DDT? How long of a walk is it? Thanks in advance!!

You can walk from OKW to SSR but its not a short walk, from the Hospitality House to the Carriage House at SSR is approx 1 1/4 mile.
To DTD West Side near cirque figure another 1/3 mile.
You could boat from OKW to DTD, and then transfer to the boat for SSR.

Thanks a lot!! Maybe early in my trip, before my feet can't take any more walking, I'll try out the trail.

Love the boat ride to DTD!! You will love OKW!! We were in the Old Turtle Pond area and it wasn't really too far to walk to HH but you can take the bus if you don't want to walk. All of the buses stop at HH before they leave the resort for parks.

You will love OKW. We had a our first stay there this past January and are going back in January of next year. We stayed in buidling #47. The walk to HH was nice. A little far for the little ones our trip but I did not mind it at all.
