OKW via resale- can you still buy the extension?

Hi! We are ready to buy into DVC and the three resorts we are considering are OKW, SSR and AKV. We will be buying a smaller contract via resale so I was wondering if we would still be able to add on the 15 year extension through Disney, and when the deadline for that is. Thanks!!

Yes, if you were to purchase an OKW resale you could still add the extension. The present cost is $20 per point and that could still go up to $25 without warning. No deadline has been announced.

Be sure to do the math when considering this since you can buy an OKW contract directly thru DVC for $101 per point, get all current points in the contract and have no closing costs for the purchase ... and the contract will come eith the extension already in place. Most of the resale purchases expire in 2042, but any purchased thru DVC have the 2057 date. There are a few resales available with the extension too.

Thanks for all the info! I was definately keeping price in mind while searching so I didn't pay too much- if I find an OKW through Disney does it still have to be 160 points? We aren't members yet and that is just too many points for us right now.

Yes, the minimum purchase thru DVC is 160 points for an OKW purchase unless you are adding on to an existing contract.
