OKW -->USF : any ideas?

Looking for info from anyone who has arranged
transportation between OKW and Universal
recently.

We'll be renting a car on our trip in June, but
our group will probably be split between
early risers and sleep-inners. So if we have
a couple of people who want to meet us at
USF or IOA later in the day, I'm guessing a
one-way taxi ride would be most time/cost-efficient.

Anyone know what we'd expect to pay?

thanks,
Bruce

I think I remember a post regarding taxi cost to Universal from Disney and it was in the neighborhood of $20.

If you are going to Universal in the summer, and your sleepers want to arrive late, they need to be aware the lines are gonna be really long by the time they get there. Prolly 2 hrs for Spidy.

Remember, parking at Universal ramp is $8.

We stayed at OKW in Jan and drove over to Universal one day. Arrived at 9:30ish and wish we had gotten there earlier! I have two teenagers so I know what you mean about sleeping in, LOL.

Thanks Herc.

Not sure how this will shake out once we're down
there. Actually, the ones who I think will be sleeping late
are my wife and my sister.

I have promised not to "go commando" on this trip, but
we all know that during the summer, those who sleep
late are lost. I'm trying to work it out cost-effectively so
that everybody gets what they're after -- be it sleep or
thrills -- on this vacation.

Back in '99, when IOA was still new, I was able to do
virtually all of the major attractions before noon, thanks
to arriving in time for the morning opening. My son was
7 then and just a tad young for the major attractions at
IOA; but now he's 11 and looking forward to Universal as
much as Disney. Maybe more. So we will probably need
to get there bright and early -- and meet up with the
laid-back contingent later on...

thanks again for your info.

Your son is a perfect age for those thrill rides!

We always have fun at Universal, but the BEST time we ever had was when we stayed onsite at the Hard Rock and had the front of the line perk.

We started to feel GUILTY about riding Spidy and MIB over and over when so many were waitng in the hot sun for so long!

You'll be fine getting early and riding those big ones first thing.

Remember AAA card (if yo have it) is l0% discount on just about everything including popcorn/junkfood vendors.

Have a great time and don't forget your ponchos for the water rides.

Mears offers transfers to Universal Studios/IOA from WDW for $13 RT. Not sure what the one way fee is (maybe $7 or $8)? If you have more than 2 people going later, though, cab fare seems like the way to go if it is only $20.

I agree - those that sleep in will wait in some long lines. Might not be worth it! :teeth:
