OKW Upgrade Question

We have booked a studio room at OKW through Disney Direct, There is 4 of us myself, hubby, son (18), daughter (14). We dont mind sharing a bed i.e my self and daughter but we have stayed in the 1 bedroomed villas which offered us better sleeping arrangements as son used the pull out chair and my daughter the sofa and we had the lovely big bed.

Now has anyone upgraded before between the 2, did you do it before you got there or when you arrived. How much did it cost you?

And help would be great.

You really need to do this before arrival, as DVC owners book the majority of these rooms. There isnt as much inventory available to the general public as there is to owners, so as time gets closer, less available. Re-book soon is my suggestion.

BTW My wife is near Norfolk visiting family. Her brother is stationed at Lakenheath, She will be there til end of Sept.

If you upgrade before you arrive it will cost you the difference in the price of the two rooms. There is no reduced rate for upgrading. If you wait until you get there it will cost you the same amount but you will run a much higher risk of the room not being available.

If you booked on points, you cannot get a larger room for additional cash. All you could do is rebook your stay on points for the larger room. Or book as many nights as you can on points and the rest for cash.

And since you booked on cash, if a one bedroom is available, you'd be paying rack rate for the new room - no discounts - if you wait until you get there.

If you really want a one bedroom instead of a studio, you need to try to change your reservation now.

Middle of February shouldn't be too difficult to get for cash nights.

We originally had 2 studios booked at OKW for our 8/15 trip, I was trying to save on $ and had enough points to cover 2 studios even though we always stay in a 2bdrm. 2 wks bf arrival DH decided he wanted to 2bdrm . OKW did not have all of our nights avail so we switched to SSR. I was surprised bc OKW always seems empty in August.

Thankful we did switch bc having us all in one villa was nice plus we had the W/D. I must have ran 9 loads that week!! Could not imagine bringing home all that dirty laundry!!
