We traded our Marriot Vacation Club week for an OKW studio beginning October 2nd through the 9th. I would like to submit a room request, but need some recommendations. My husband and I will be traveling with our kids ages 2 and 5 (the 5year old will have a birthday while we are there) and a big double stroller. We are planning on 4 days in the parks, plus MNNSHP one night and two pool, or down days. Given this information, is there a building you would recommend?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I would not request a specific building, because you probably won't get it -- unless somebody is checking out of a studio in that building on the day you're checking in, and that unit hasn't already been assigned to someone else. It's better to request the attributes that are really important to you.

Given your description, I would request:

-- Non-smoking unit.

-- Ground floor unit. No OKW buildings have elevators, except for 62, 63, and 64. Carrying a big double stroller up and down the stairs would be awful.

-- Near the Old Turtle Pond Pool. This pool includes a snack bar and small playground. It is less crowded than the main pool. And you're more likely to have your request honored for the Old Turtle Pond Pool than for the main pool.

-- Not handicapped accessible. With your young kids, I assume you'll want a regular bathtub.

I ditto Horace's recommendations. Especially if you want some pool time. The main pool near the Hospitality House will be undergoing renovation so it will be closed while you are there. The Old Turtle Pond pool is a good substitute.

I agree, make the more general requests as suggested...as far as design and layout, at OKW a studio is a studio is a studio, except for the handicap rooms with a roll-in shower...no tub for kids.

And yes, the Turtle Pond area is very nice

Since I rarely travel with kids, the only request I make is non-smoking.

the first floors studio - generally do not have a good view - they are surrounding on the whole by shurbs and trees and in some cases air-conditioning units.

if you go even to the second floor you would have a much better view.

OKW is only 3 floors high - in some building the 2nd floor is the highest.

please remember that a studio is that a studio - not a 2-bedroom - so please don't be disappointed in the size.

All laundry rooms are near the quiet pool.

there are 4 pools (although the main one will be closed - OKW is adding a pool slide) - and 4 bus stops.

I would not request the main building because that pool will be closed and I think your kids will want to swim.

All WDW resorts pools are heated - so it is fine to go swimming - of course the walk back to the room might be cold - but kids don't seem to mind!!!!
