OKW studio and balcony question?

Have a studio booked 5 nights in December and just read in the unofficial guide that only some studios have balconies. I thought they all did except first floor rooms. Is this true and can I request one? :confused3

Even the first floor studios will have an enclosed patio. I'm not aware of any OKW studios without either a patio or a balcony.

None the of 2nd BRs in a dedicated 2BR villa will have a balcony or patio, but I think that all lock-off studios (there are no dedicated studios at OKW), have one or the other.

No need to make it a request.

Enjoy!

The first floor ones look the very same from inside as the higher floors. They are not patios on the ground like the other resorts. They are the same porches with railings as the higher floors have.

I would request a studio NOT on the first floor, even if it means carrying luggage up the steps. The shrubbery around the 1st floor studios has become large enough that there is really no view, and because the studio balconies are small, the greenery makes them pretty enclosed. Also the first floor end unit studios have a bunch of air conditioner units next to them, I think.

Thanks everyone for all your info and tips! We love to have a balcony for coffee in the morning and happy hour in the evenings! :surfweb: :stir: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :rolleyes1

I agree!! We just got back a couple of weeks ago and stayed on the 1st floor in a studio. We had absolutley no view. The shrubbery was so high, that was all we could see, shrubbery!! Request a 2nd floor studio!

The only DVC resort that I know of that has a studio without a balcony is VWL and I think it is only one studio.

We had a 2nd floor balcony in building 26 overlooking the quiet pool. The greenery was quite grown up around it but we enjoyed it because we could sit on our balcony and not feel like everyone at the pool was watching us. However, the pool people might have felt uneasy with us 'hidden' in the shrubs.

I agree completely.

yes the reason I got told is privacy....

the first floor also have the handicapped accessible studios.... these don't have a tub (I need a tub on my vacation) but only a walkin shower....
