OKW Room Requests

I will be staying at OKW in March. It is my first trip as a DVC member, and my first time at the resort. It will be DH and myself in a studio.
When I have stayed at SSR I have requested Congress Park.

Is there a section of OKW that people prefer over the others? Are there any areas that are "far" from the bus transportation?
What is your favorite area of the resort?

If I didn't make any requests when I booked my room, is it too late to add them now?(I understand that the requests are just that and are not a garuntee)

Hospitality House area (near check in) is now a booking category, so that one cannot be requested any longer.

We actually prefer Turtle Pond area ourselves. There is a nice pool and playground there, hot tub, and snack bar area (this is seasonal sometimes). There is also a bus stop for the area, and some nice golf course views as well.

I am sure others will chime in here with their favs, too! :)

Thank you for your input! I like the sound of "turtle pond" The hot tub sounds amazing right about as I'm staring at the snow outside...

We've stayed in the Turtle Pond area twice and enjoyed it. Last stay was in building 30... which was slightly farther from the Turtle Pond pool, but an easier walk to the Hospitality House. We liked the location and the ease of the walk to HH (about 5 minutes).

When staying at OKW, I request Turtle Pond, water view. We've had great rooms in 31, 43 & 37.

We also generally like Turtle Pond, specifically bldgs 30 to 33, as we like to be near the bus stop, but the best "views" are along the canal in bldgs 45, 46 and 55.

One nice thing about OKW, is that there are 5 bus stops spread throughout the resort, so you're never too, too far from one.

We used to request Turtle Pond all the time. But for the last three stays at OKW, we've been on South Point and we really like that area. We actually like anything but Hospitality House area.

We have stayed in buildings 23 and 24 and they were a great location. Request to get close to the Hospitality house.

We almost always stay at OKW (allthough BWV is our home resort). I always request Old Turtle Pond Road as well, water view. Don't always get it, have stayed in several other areas as well, but Old Turtle Pond is still my favorite.

If you book the Hospitality House category, can you still request a specific building within that category?

Though if I read the map above correctly, building 25 is the only building which has GV in the HH category? So if we would book a GV in the HH category, that's what we would get anyway, right?

You can make requests after you book. We had requested a handful of Turtle Pond buildings for our first OKW stay in December. We ended up in building 46 - not one we had requested, but we enjoyed the location and canal view. It took us just a few minutes to walk to the South Point bus stop. The walk to the hospitality area was maybe 8-10 minutes - not bad, but our family is not one to mind walking 10-15 minutes to get somewhere. For our next stay we are booked in the HH area and I requested buildings 24 or 25.

Yes, if you are booked in the HH area then that location is guaranteed. Based on the map it looks like building 25 is the only one with GVs, so there is no need to make a building request in your case.

For our first stay at okw we were given building 23 in HH area but being across the bridge it seemed a bit less busy than buildings 11 thru 14 looked. It did'nt matter where I stayed but our sons ,18 and 20 loved that area. They were regulars at the tennis courts and late night pool and hot tub users, also they hopped on the boat for DTD most nights to visit disney quest.

I'm glad you are all encouraging folks to book Turtle Pond!;) I've been very disappointed in that area. I find the pool and hot tub there to be a bit too noisy for my liking. My preference is either South Point, Miller's Road or HH.

My favorite buildings are 45 and 46 at South Point with 55 close behind. I love 15, 16, and 20 at Miller's and have always had good stays in the HH area. Our least favorite building is 29 by far.

Well, while Miller's Rd does have a nice pool area, I don't care for that area for a few reasons, The master bath having only one entrance, bus turn around through a parking area, and the bus stop being across the street near a somewhat blind curve. Bldgs 28 & 29 are our least favorites, too.

Unfortunately, MS doesn't even really seem to know. They may be using the 60's building for overflow of the HH category, especially now that 23 to 26 are starting rehab.

This is the problem with booking categories. Say someone needed an elevator building or ground floor for medical reasons, but when they reassign "guaranteed" categories the availability of their elevator room evaporates because it is no longer in the originally booked category.

The more categories (and we see people here want more and more guaranteed areas all the time) the harder it will be to book a vacation.
