We are staying at OKW in December (2 studios) and don't want to rent a vehicle unless we can get a really great deal. I know OKW is huge and I was told all the hospitality locations were taken. I was wondering what would be a good location to request so we could still walk to the main swimming area. Also, if you are extremely far from the main area, do you they offer any type of transportation to the main area?

You can hop on any bus while in the resort for transportatin to the HH area, it is the last stop on the route. To return to your villa, you can wait for the internal bus (which is also one of the busses on the DtD, Typhoon Lagoon route) or walk across the bridge to the the Peninsular Road bus stop. At Peninsular Road is the firsy bus stop, so you can hop on any bus there for transportation to the rest of the resort.

There is one main pool area with a slide, near HH, bu tthere are also 3 very nice neighborhood pools at OKW, while they will not have a slide, they do all have hot tubs and sandy children play areas.

It is really about a 10 to 12 minute walk from the farthest areas of the resort to the HH area at the most.

The Hospitality House is a booking catagory and not a request. That being said, I frankly don't think it matters WHERE you are as far as getting to HH easily. There are 5 bus stops throughout the resort, and any bus to any location will get you to HH, since it is the final stop before leaving the resort. Also please note that there are 3 additional pools, hot tubs, and play areas. We actually prefer the neighborhood pools over the main pool.

As far as walking to HH....it's not THAT far from most areas. The worst would be Turtle Pond or some of the buildings at the end of the South Point loop. We have walked from the South Point bus stop to HH in about 7 minutes, and we are retirement age. If I wanted to be close without being in the HH catagory, I'd request 15, 16, or 17.

Here is the map for your perusal.

Why 2 studios instead of a 2 bedroom?

the 2 studios are cheaper and everyone has privacy - which I definitely need if going with my family.

as had been noted - all the buses will stop at HH (unless the bus driver forgets) before going to the parks.

so getting to HH is not a problem.

the miller road is not consider to be close to HH - so any of there.

that say prefer South Pointe

We were at OKW a couple of weeks ago, in building 45. Although I originally balked at the location, it was only about a 10 minute stroll from the HH area, had a quiet pool close by and was a lovely location, along the river. I would definitely recommend it.

Buildings 45 and 46 are our favorites, but I can't imagine it taking 10 minutes to wal to HH from there. We have done that walk often, and I doubt it took more than 5 minutes. I remember timing it once a long time ago just because so many here had complained about the walk, but we didn't find it was bad at all.

Why 2 studios instead of a 2 bedroom?

We are doing 2 studios instead of a 2 bedroom to save some points. We bought annual passes and planned a short 5 night trip for December because we have never seen it a Christmas (my family of 5 plus my mother). Then we are planning a 17 day:cool1: trip in August. Thanks for the info:)

You know that studios don't connect, right? I see you have three boys and the studios only sleep four. The studios are usually located on the ends of the buildings so you might not be close to each other.

I agree - we had two elderly people in our party so when I said stroll I meant slow stroll ;)

Unfortunately, I didn't realize that until it was already in progress. However, My mother is going to be in the other studio and this will give her an opportunity to have one or two of the children at a time without the over bearing parents around. I just ant to be as close as possible. The more I think about it the more it seems to be to my advantage because my room will be quieter :cool1: without as many children in it all at once. I may even be alone with my husband once in a while, I wonder if I still like him;)

if you haven't already call back and ask that the rooms be near each other if possible in the same building.

there is a special word for this that I don't remember. It is not linking.

We have requested to have units near each other in the past, and they will usually do there best to at least put them in the same building. I would request it ASAP though.
