We just booked a 1 bedroom at OKW with the free dining special and are looking for room location suggestions. We will be there for 6 nights, including Christmas Eve and day. Our travel party includes my father, who is 86, husband, adult son, and teenage daughter. If our son does come down, it will only be for a night or two.
My father is getting crabby in his old age! His knees and hips are shot, but he would never sit in a wheelchair or scooter unless heavily medicated. He is impatient and hates lines. He can spend only a few hours in a park before he becomes tired and hurts. But he loves Disney and wants to spend Christmas there. It helps him to not think about my mom, who passed a few years ago. He likes quiet places, but he also likes reading by the pool.
Is there a quiet area with pretty views that anyone can recommend? Now that so many busses are being routed past OKW due to DTD area construction, I'm afraid of being assigned a room by the resort perimeter. Is there a building near a pool that is also located away form the internal busses? We were once given a studio at OKW and the bus stop seemed to be almost directly next to the bed. On that same trip, we were first assigned an occupied room! The looks on the faces of the family eating breakfast that we walked in on were priceless! They even offered us breakfast while we waited for the CMs at check-in to reassign us a room. To top it all off, my mother passed while we were there! (My father has no idea that my family stayed there when it happened. And it will stay that way.)
Thanks for your suggestions. We're excited for the opportunity to do OKW the right way this time.
