We are going on our first DVC trip :cool1: :cool1:   next November, will spend a week at the AKV's then hopefully to OKW for another week.
So............ just where would you OKW'ers recommend staying at the OKW resort. We will be trying for a 2bedroom unit.:dance3: :dance3:

Thanks

Monty

It realy depends upon your personal preferences. There are 5 bus stops scattered throughout the resort, so youu ar never really far away from the bus.

If you will have a car, I would avoid the buldings closest to the main pool and Hospitality areas, as their parking lots can get crowded.

While some balcony views are nicer than others, none are "awful."

I know this doesn;t help much, but if you have a car, one part of OKW is pretty much like any other. There was a design change, thoguh, during construction. If there will be someone on the sofa sleeper, the only way into the bathroom is through the master bedroom in buildings 29 and under. There is a second door into the bathroom, through the laundry room, in bldgs 30 and above.

Also, there are no elevators except in buildings 62, 63, & 64. But the parking is also not too great in those buildings...so overall we prefer the Turtle Pond area or the canal view buildings 45. 46 or 55.

We have stayed in the 23 - 26 range by the bus stop on Peninsular and found it to be a great location for when we were there long enough to use Hospitality House area (community hall, main pool - kids love the slide, Goods to Go, etc.) and also when we were doing a lot of traveling to the parks because if we missed the bus on its way into OKW, we had enough time to walk up to HH to catch the bus up there. Saved us some wait time on more than one occasion.

Our first two stays were in the 11 -14 buildings which we liked for convenience to the pool and community hall, too, but as Chuck mentioned, parking was sometimes an issue if we had gone out in the car.

One visit we were in the Turtle Pond area and found it to be quiet. But our new favorite location is in the back at South Point. We stayed in Bldg 54 (but now DS wants to stay in one of the canal views) and found the newer design of the 1BR to be more suitable to our needs (love that extra door to the bathroom area).

So I guess my point is that there are distinct advantages to each area -- it mostly depends on how you're planning to use the resort. If it's a place to sleep and hang out in the room, then I'd say it doesn't really matter - the higher-number buildings are a bit newer (not much, but not original phase so they benefit from slight changes), but if you want to use HH / Community Hall, etc., then staying in the 11 - 14 or 23 - 27 bldgs would be my recommendation... or the 60's since they are just across the way, too.

What I really love about OKW is how it feels like a small village - like homes, with the streets and sidewalks.
