We have just decided that we are going to do a family reunion in Jan. 2006. There will be 6 adults and 2 kids. I know it is a long way off, but we want to start doing some research before we do our ressies. We have stayed at POFQ, BWI, and AK. Since we are all going DH, DD, DS spouses and 2 grandchildren, we will be on somewhat of a budget. Any hints on how to go about getting the most for our money. We will be traveling from 2 different cities also. OKW seems affordable ( I did some inquiring). What is your opinion of this resort? We have not stayed there yet. What about the villas with 6 adults? Any help will be appreciated.

I stayed in a 2 BDR villa in 2002 with 4 adults and 2 toddlers and it was great. Tons of room and well laid-out, great with the kitchen and balcony and eating area. Living room couch pulled out but we didn't use that, but you could....Although I'd get the 2 BDR and then a studio, personally; I think 6 adults might be a little cramped.

Bus trans was good, pool was very bland but very nice area with walking paths and you can park right at your door. Nice boat ride to DTD also.

You'll find SSR is the same price as OKW in case there isn't any room there.

Some people don't like it because it's "too quiet", and "too spread out".
My DH and I LOVE it. The room are bigger than other HAH resorts and we have always found the staff to be friendly and accomodating.

We have stayed at BWV, BCV, WLV, POR and we have decided that from now on...it's only OKW for us (although we love POR as well).

Are you doing a Grand Villa,2 bedroom, a couple of 1 bedrooms or studios?

6 adults (with 2 kids) in a 1 bedroom- no way, you'd be tripping over each other. We did a 1 bedroom with 2 adults and 2 kids and it was about maxed out as far as we were concerned. 6 adults in a 2 bedroom is "do-able" but how old are the two kids?

If I were doing 6 adults and two kids I would do a two bedroom AND a studio or a GV, but they are pricey.

I've heard of people doing 6 in a one bedroom....Some people don't care if they stuff 10 in a room, but WDW is a big place and a good nights sleep can make the difference between a good vacation and a bad one. JMHO

We will be trying a one bedroom at OKW in a couple of weeks and I have gotten lots of positive feedback about the resort. We were looking for somewhere more laid back and relaxing and with some extra rooom as well, but still on property. OKw fit the bill. We had some good friends stay in a studio in October and they loved it. I am looking forward to having the king bed, washer and dryer, and jacuzzi tub to soak in at night! With 6 adults you would need the 2 bedroom plus a studio That way you would have three rooms for the adults and the kid's could sleep on the sofa bed. You could do the 2 bedroom but then 4 adults would have to share one room, 2 queen size beds and one bath in the studio portion of the 2 bedroom. To make this more affordable you should look into renting DVC points. That is what we did and we are saving over 50% from the rack rate. Let me know if you need more infor on doing this! This is the second time we are renting from the same person. Last time we stayed at BCV and LOVED it but the studio is small for the 4 of us and the one bedrooms were more than the one bedroom at OKW due to the location. I will post how we liked it when we return in a few weeks!

We have chosen OKW for our next trip. We plan to save a little money by eatng breakfast in the 1 bedroom and doing laundry, also = less clothes to bring along. Rooms look nice and big with the lovely deck with chairs, etc. I think you'll be happy here!

my recommendation is go!!! It is a quiet resort but great!! The pool will have its new slide finished very soon!!! I would recommend renting from a dvc member on the rent/trade board for the best deal. Have questions about points or renting feel free to pm me!!

And request to be in the 60's buildings, they are the only ones with elevators, and they are right next to the HH. :D

OKW is my home resort, so I am very biased in favor of it!

I agree with the advice you should think about either a 2-bedroom and studio or a Grand Villa. The GV has two bedrooms on the second floor, each with it's own bathroom. One room has two double beds; the other has two queen beds. The third bedroom is downstairs and has its own bathroom and the jacuzzi. Another bathroom is right off the foyer and can be "dedicated" to whomever uses the pullout couch, if necessary. The GVs are pricey, but may be your best value....and they are roomy and lovely! And, yes, renting points is a great idea!

OKW is very laid back and very relaxing. We fell in love with it at first sight and still absolutely adore it!
