OKW pool/slide Grand Opening Ceremony

The OKW pool/slide Grand Ocame from the`slidepening Ceremony will be held Friday, January 14 at 10 a.m. I just came from the slide area. The CMs are doing some last minute checks. It definitely exceeds my expectations! I plan to come back to OKW in the morning to be there!

Could it get any worse... All the anticipation for the slide and today is the most miserable day in, I would say the past 2 months. There is no end in sight to the rain coming in from the west coast. http://www.nws.noaa.gov/radar/latest/DS.p19r0/si.ktbw.shtml maybe there wil be a break just for the opening

Sorry about the opening ceremony rain though----I think it's pouring (or snowing) all over the country practically. It's 40+ degrees and pouring buckets right now in the Philly area. Hopefully it's at least somewhat warm in Orlando. Looking forward to some pics hopefully.

We also can't wait to see the slide this summer during our stay at OKW. Just think a grand villa and the new slide, we're sure to enjoy ourselves.

I woke up this morning to thunder, lightening & rain. I called OKW & the CM said if it was till raining the grand opening would not take place. I am assuming since it is still raining (& was pouring about 10 a.m.) that they did not have the ceremony . Oh well ...

Pam, I was at the OKW annual meeting in December 2003 when the slide was announced, but Simba's Mom actually was the first to write here about it.

Yay! That means it will defintiely be open when we get there on 1/23!! Whoohooo!! It is finally bright and sunny here in AZ, sorry the weather there is so yucky!!

Can we expect a first hand report about how fun the slide is to go down? I was really looking forward to trying it out when I was there last week, but didn't get a chance. Anxious to hear a first hand report on the "fun-factor" of the slide.

We were disappointed at the weather this morning--talk about RAIN ! We decided to head back home after breakfast and not wait around to see if the ceremony would take place.
The weather played havoc with the traffic on I-4. We were stuck for about 45 minutes (stopped) around exit 39. Although the rain has let up a little
it is damp, dark and chilly (60 degrees) here at the coast ---guess it is better than SNOW so I won't complain too much !!!!!!!!!!!!

Turns out the 10 a.m. ceremony went as scheduled. I called OKW when the rain let up to see if they had rescheduled, only to be told it went at 10 a.m.! Oh well ...

Simba's Mom, it was too cold this evening to go swimming, plus the pool & slide were closed when we stopped by OKW about 7:30 p.m.

FL Princess, I understand! It will be very cold when I get home tomorrow.

I am bummed. We booked BCV because of the pool over OKW thinking the pool was out of commision and now BCV's pool is down and OKW is open! What a blunder!
