My DH and I were looking at the Dreams book and were wondering what all OKW has to offer. We are hoping to buy into DVC this September (apparently only at SSR and AKV, but OKW looks nice) and were looking for some inside scoop - maybe some pics of OKW? :goodvibes It looks WAY relaxing, but farther away from the main hub of WDW. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Any expert advice from those who own there or have visited there is GREATLY appreciated...TIA.

It looks WAY relaxing, but farther away from the main hub of WDW. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

OKW is very relaxing. It's a boatride (or bus ride) away from DTD. OKW has its own bus service to the parks also. To me, it doesn't seem inconvenient. I like Olivia's restaurant and the Goody's counter service.

As far as "seeming far away from the main hub," although not within walking distance to Epcot or Dis Studios, it's doesn't seem inconvenient to me. I think that the walk from the Studios to BWV is about 25 minutes, and walking within the parks is more than enough for me.

You'll hear plenty of other DVCers note how spacious the rooms are at OKW. I personally like the full-sized washer and dryer. Great master bedroom and bath. Sorry I don't have any photos to post.

Remember that regardlesss of where you stay. all the resorts will have some distance to the different parks. It's a hike from SSR & OKW to Animal Kingdom, just as it'll be a hike from AKL to the Studios, DTD, Typhoon Lagoon, Epcot or the Studios.

We LOVE OKW! You truly feel like you are in Florida when you stay there, and it is VERY relaxing. The size of the units make it feel much more like a "home" than a hotel.

BTW, you CAN still buy OKW direct from DVC. They just don't advertise that fact because they want to promote the new properties. Ask your guide about it.

I have stayed at a lot of Disney resorts before buying DVC and personally I think this resort is close enough to all or it seems that bus rides to all is fairly short.. some resorts it seemed that we were on the bus for 30-40 minutes to get to some of the parks and others it was a lot shorter. I guess the best way to say it is the bus ride is not long enough to feel long and not short enough to feel short :confused3

So they still offer contracts at OKW? That's good to hear. Does anyone know how much it is a point? Is it close to SSR or AKV? I saw in the book that it is a good resort to get more bang for your points, so does that mean it is less expensive per point? Thanks everybody - We really enjoyed reading the other thread and the pics are GREAT! :goodvibes

Hi currently the price per point at OKW is 92.00 direct through Disney.
The min buy in going up shortly to 160 points for the contract.
You can however buy less points through resale but it is a longer process and
each contract is different (banked points --stripped contract, who pays what maintance fees etc.)The contract also has to pass Disney first right of Refusal,
which prevents most contracts from being sold below a set amount. I think if you have an experienced and qualified agent they should be able to help you set the right point price that will make it through. OkW expiry date is 2042, which to some is not such a good deal as maybe SSR and AKV --later expiry dates.
But for me it is great as I don;t need or want anything longer than 2042.
Resale also gives you the opportunity to purchase smaller amounts of points
example: 100 +75+25 =200 total points. This is important to some as small resale contracts sell extremely well and fast. Hope this helps --I'm fairly new here so if I've made any mistakes I'm sure someone will point it out.
