I have to make a choice between OKW and the villas at wilderness lodge. We have been to OKW and I know it is pretty spread out. I think the room at OKW is bigger,is this right. I also read that you can watch the Electrical water pageant from the beach at the wilderness. Does anyone have any more info to add that will help me decide. Both are one bedrooms and we will be going in aug. my kids like to go pool and love hot tubs.
Thanks

We found the villas at Wilderness lodge to be very tight in size. Also, you still have to walk a bit to the main pool. Yes, you can see the parade from there, however, you could always just take a bus over there to watch.

OKW is much roomier and if you spend time in the condo to me there is no better way to go than OKW. The kids like OKW better....they like the different pools and the play grounds. They enjoy getting up in the morning and watching the golfers play through before we head out.

I think it depends on the age of the kids and how much time you will spend at the parks versus the resort. We tend to spend more time at the resort, so the extra space is better for us with 2 boys.

hope that helps.

OKW has larger rooms and the pools might have a slight edge over those at VWL. However, VWL has better transportation and is a cozier, more serene resort. VWL's buses generally are considered good since most are direct shots to the destination (with the exception of DTD and the water parks); further, there is a boat you can take to FW (or walk/bike to it along a paved trail), a boat to the Contemporary, and best of all, a boat to MK. :thumbsup2 Yes, you can see the EWP from the beach, as well as being able to see the higher flashes of Wishes from various spots around the resort. Basically, your decision will boil down to whether you want the extra space and pools at OKW or the easier access, easier transportation (but smaller rooms) you get at VWL. Either is a good choice, so best of luck with your decision!

How are the sofa beds at VWL? For an adult?which section would you recommend for bus service & restaurants? Thanks.

My experience with the sofa beds are that they are doable. They aren't plush (not that any sofa bed I've had has been), but they won't break your back, either. As for the particular section, VWL only has one building at the Lodge, and it is connected by a lovely, covered walkway to the main Lodge (complete with flickering lanterns and crickets chirruping). The bus stop for the entire resort sits between the main Lodge and the VWL building just off the walkway, so it's very convenient.

The following are your dining options:
Trout Pass Pool Bar: at the main Lodge pool (VWL has its own pool and hot tub)--I think they have some snacks there
Territory Lounge: located at entrance to Artist Point, they offer a limited bar menu
Roaring Fork: solid counter service with salads, sandwiches, and grill fare
Whispering Canyon: family style restaurant with comfort foods
Artist Point: signature restaurant and one of the best dining experiences on WDW property

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

Yup I agree! The resorts are now as important if not more important than the theme parks! We also like to use the BBQ grills as well and OKW lends itself to that so much better than the hotel type of accommodations! Getting to the pool is hard enough at AKV, BWV but travelling the halls and elevators with meat/groceries etc. for the grill/villa is a bit more trying than at OKW.

For us also theme is important too, the feel of WLV, the mountain cabin etc., I love that when I'm in TN or GA but not so much in FL. I prefer a more tropical theme! WLV has no view to speak of either, trees, trees and more trees!

Good luck with you decision!
