I posted before that we are able to go to DW :goodvibes and now my daughter's friend has accepted so I will be with two 16 year old girls which should be interesting. We have reservations at SSR in a studio.

In calling to add her to the reservation I found there is some availability at OKW in studios. Where do you think they would enjoy it more? My first thought was OKW because of the two beds and larger patio for me.... but then I thought of the ease of Downtown Disney with SSR.

I could also split the stay but OKW and SSR seem too much alike.... or I could wait list another resort.

Any advice would be appreciated. :sunny:

Our teenagers have always liked the location of SSR since they could walk to DTD.

I am 20 years old and I say waitlist the Boardwalk! It has been my favorite resort to stay at since it opened DVC villas. My parents always felt comfortable letting us walk to MGM or Epcot that way which was really fun. Saratoga Springs will be nice too, being close to Downtown Disney, so don't worry if you don't want to wait list or it doesn't come through.

My two sons age 16 and 14 love Disneyquest so being able to walk from SSR is a big bonus for us. Never stayed at OKW but we have been there and it feels a little too remote for us. DH and I would like to stay there without the kids sometime as it is a beautiful resort. The other nice thing about SSR is walking to and from DTD and being able to get a bus directly to any resort. That is a big plus for us!

I have two teen dd's (17 & 13) and they prefer SSR. They like the pool there better & the convenient walk to DisneyQuest.

My kids are 15, 13, 12, and there favorite is SSR. They all agree. (that never happens) They like the pool, community hall, walk to DTD. They do Disney Quest and the Virgin Mega store, movies, shop, Mcdonalds. They can have a bit more freedom. They like BWV so they can go to MGM and hang on the Boardwalk. But all have agreed that SSR is their favorite.

Thanks everyone... SSR it is! We still may waitlist a couple of days at the Boardwalk or Beach Club as I will really miss staying there.

One other ? - where should we request a room at SSR?

If you want to be closest to DTD I would request Congress Park. We were in the furthest building in that section and were at the Marketplace in less than 5 min. It was about 7-8 minutes to the main pool and Artist Pallete.

I would say SSR for the kids but us old people (I am 34) love the relaxation of OKW.

I have 3 teens and they love OKW. Though you would not get a larger patio with a studio at OKW---it is only the 1,2 and 3 bedroom villas that have the spacious patios. So I can firmly confirm that teens enjoy OKW. They loved it there when they were younger as well.
This past summer at OKW, we felt like we were in a "smalltown usa" neighborhood. Very quaint and relaxing. Kids bike riding and skateboarding throughout the resort. My kids made alot of friends and they love the new sandcastle slide at the main pool. My son also loves the ease of getting on the boat at the OKW marina and taking that down to DD. He likes DQ, visiting the Virgin music store etc. He can come and go as he pleases. We also enjoy renting watercraft at OKW and taking a picnic boat ride down the canal to the DD area.

BWV, while a very lovely resort, did not hold the same amount of interest to my teens. They didn't feel there was much attraction for them on the boardwalk when not visiting the parks. While I know there are restaurants, some shops, a bakery there.....they much prefer hanging out in DD and felt it had more to offer their age group.

We took the whole family last year. We stayed at OKW for the room size. That worked out great but we did have two teenagers. They would take the bus to DD at night. I think it would have been easier if they could have just walked.

The DVC Ferry at OKW is a great mode of transportation to DD. Did your teens choose not to go that route mom2rb ? My kids love riding the boat vs the bus to DD. The Ferry operates up until 11 pm.

It was my brother and my DH's sister. They took the boat once and the buses the rest of the time. They are just normal teenagers and have no concept of time. They wanted to go on their own. I think they would have rather just walked back to the room when they were done.
