Hi!
We'll be staying at the OKW next month, in a 2 bedroom. Is there any particular building I should put as a request on my reservation?

All locations at OKW are good, all are near a pool and bus stop.

what do you consider a good view?

being near the restuarant, main pool, basketball court (there are tennis courts a couple of places), hanks's rental? then ask to be near HH.

Otherwise I like the water views.

your views choices are golf, water, woods
you can ask to be near the bus stop, quiet pool or HH.

We're just back from two weeks in building 56. It was practically perfect in every way; near quiet pool, near bus stop, limited view of canal, quiet and the second stop on the outgoing bus routes so we never stood. I'd go back there in a heartbeat!!

thanks. I think i put in a request when i first made the reservation for building 55, but i don't have the map anymore. I think it's near the river/canal (or whatever that is)..

I was going to suggest bldg 55 too...and 56 is also good. Great location for a family with lil ones. Enjoy!

Please remember that the more specific a request &/or the more requests made, then the less likely everything will be met. In terms of requests, what is important to you?

building 55 is a very small building and is pretty popular.

So yes it would be great - but don't count on it.

put what you want - water view near a bus stop.

thanks. I'll add that to the reservation as well.
Last time we got building 34 (i didn't request anything at all other than no smoking) and we really liked that building. We overlooked a pond and part of the golf course. We enjoyed watching the golfers who foolishly kept golfing in the rain/lightning while holding metal rods in their hands......and that year it rained so hard, they kept coming out to measure the pond to see how far it had overflowed its banks.....it never reached us, but it definitely seemed as though it might....

Whe we stay there we always like to stay in BLDG 63 or 64 great view of the island green out the back and still close to HH and the main pool plus it has an elevator if you need it.

LOL, this thread just goes to show why requesting a specific building at OKW might have you missing out on another great one! After 20 trips to OKW, I have stayed many places through out the resort. I saw someone mention building 55, and I have to say that is our favorite too. I also noticed someone mention building 64, and I didn't care for that one too much because it doesn't have it's own parking lot, and the balcony was a bit too in the open for me (not much vegetation).

Most buildings have golf course/water views. The only building I thought had a questionable view was building 29 if you are on the 1st floor, because it is quite hemmed in by tall vegetation. Now if you are staying in one of the two GVs in that building, it probably woudn't be an issue.

My point is that being too specific might lead you to disappointment because, one person's ideal spot might not be so ideal for you.

We loved bldg 64 this past May my kids had a family of ducks and bunnies etc that would come to the balcony and they would feed them every morning at about 7AM. There was also a turtle that would make an apperance during the morning the kids loved this and so did we actually LOL. We had room 6414 it was a 1 bedroom we were supposed to have a studio but something needed fixing in that room so they put us in a 1 bdrm.

Charles, those things are not too specific to building 64. We have seen those same things at many OKW locations. One year there was a very entertaining family of baby squirels living in a palm tree near building 52. When we stayed in building 21, we were on a first name basis with the ducks there.

On our few visits to OKW we had only ever seen this at building 64 we stayed out near Turtle Pond in building 30 something I think it was can't remember off the top of my head. I do know our parking lot was across the street from teh bus stop all we had there was a filthy pond some mosquitos and bees nests nothing else not even a chipmunk or squirrel.

well i'm sure we'll enjoy whatever we get...
we just love OKW.....this will only be our second stay I think.....maybe our third...(yikes...talk about senility)....

I find all the posts about people not liking it because it's got the feel of a retirement home.....i guess my kids must be ready for retirement because they love it too.....they much prefer it to the more hotel like villa resorts.....
so maybe i should buy each of them a rocking chair for their next birthday. :)

Actually DHF our family finds OKW a little to quiet my thoughts on it are retirement village the kids call it old age home LOL. They do love the new slide at the pool though.

did they change the whole pool, or just add a slide?

Haven't seen the finished product yet because last Nov it was still under consruction, but I think it's just the slide that's been added ? We're heading there this August.
As for requests, I always ask simply for "water view" and have never been let down with bldg 43, 46 or 62 most recently. You can also see (the tops of the the fireworks) and hear Illuminations from bldg 62. From 43 we had lots of visitors to our porch. We saw ducks, swans, rabbits and frogs (one renegade frog even made his way into our villa).
Good luck with your requests and I'm sure you'll have a great time !

OKW a retirement village? We'd love to retire there! Would anyone else be interested if they actually did market OKW as a place to retire? I think they just added a slide to the existing main pool. I'm hoping that makes the "quiet" pools even more "quiet".
