OKW, happy to say, I get it now!!!

Always really love Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom… but welcome to my favorites, Old Key West!!!

AFter my 3rd stay… I REALLY get it now!

And I see why so many of you sing it's praises! Just want you to know, I'm joining your club!

I'm staying there for the first time over Easter, in a 1 BR (it was a compromise with DH, who wanted to squeeze into a studio, so instead I booked the least points-pricey 1 BR). I'm excited. We will have stayed at all the DVCs on-site except for BLT after that trip.

I have a number of friends who just love OKW, so I hope to become one of them!

After our first stay it became our preferred home away from home. I just booked SSR for next Jan. because we have the most points there but at 7 months I'll transfer the res and combine our small OKW contract to stay at OKW for 2 weeks in a 2bdrm, can't wait. We just returned from 2weeks at our other home, the royal sea aquarium in curacoa to book our dis stay. We go every other year to each place, the royal, wife and I only, dis the whole family.

sssshhhhhhh, you aren't supposed to share that with anyone. I have always felt that OKW was DVCs Best Kept Secret. Let's don't tell everyone what a great place it is, o.k.

What I meant to say was:

It is the oldest… ugh.
Least themed… I mean, you are in FLA… Key West… big deal.
Most spread out… you have to sit on the bus… ALL through the resort! yikes!
and it takes the boat FOREVER to get to downtown Disney!

Yep… stay away!

Our postman who is alsoa member is there now and loves OKW- why ? Relaxing? Laid back? What? Promise I wont tell anyone!

And you have to climb stairs to get to most villas because none of the buildings but a couple have an elevator.

Really awful views, I mean who enjoys water and golf course views.

Gee whiz, I really think that most people would enjoy staying elsewhere.

Not that big of a fan of Olivia's, but the resort is not only beautiful, its has that laid back feel to it that I crave.

Yeah, its great to stay at okw. It was the first dvc resort I stayed at when I bought into dvc in 2010 . You will love the one br , the only draw back if any is that it only has 1 bathroom .

We own at VWL and dont get me wrong, it will always be #1 in my heart. We really like BWV and after staying at OKW a second time, it slid right in to a very close 2nd behind VWL.

Our 1st time there was in a studio, and we just didnt get the appeal, but a stay in a 1 bed did it for us. The room size, plus the peacefulness drew us like moths to a flame.

And in a week we will be back to enjoy some more!!

For some reason I resisted staying there for years. But when we finally did, it became a favorite. Simply beautiful, relaxing. There is nothing at all wrong with this resort IMHO.

Welcome to the Now I Get it Club!!

We are also proud members of this club. We wish that we had stayed at Old Key West years ago, but now, it is our fav.

The 1 beds truly feel like home!! Nothing is better than sitting on the balcony for breakfast and dinner. Just returned from 11 days last month, and it was heaven!

We are staying at Kidani this August the week before our Fantasy Cruise because we all miss AK, but all of us have said that we will definitely miss OKW, so we'll meander over there for a visit.

DD9 and I are staying there in May. I offered her the choice between here and AKL. I have only stayed once, but loved it. It's just.......wonderful.

How would you compare a two bedroom at OKW and SSR? We are a family of 4 going with another family of 3 in the next few years and am wondering if the extra space is worth it. We own at SSR and my hubby want the treehouse again, but I want to make sure of what will work best for us on this trip.

On our recent trip, we wanted to go from Blizzard Beach to DTD... so instead of going all the way back to BLT, we jumped on a bus "home" and then got there via OKW boat. As soon as we started walking around the grounds, my wife and I both had "resort remorse" and admitted we should have skipped BLT and spent our first half at home. It has such a relaxing quality about it.
We decided three things upon returning this year. No more split stays... never again at BLT... and OKW at least every other year.
