If you are thinking BWV standard or boardwalk view be aware those are often difficult to get at 7 months out and likely will be difficult to impossible when it is less than 6 months out like now. You can probably still get pool/garden view and a GV at OKW but understand that every additional day you wait before making a reservation exponentially decreases your chances of getting those. In other words, you need to reserve pronto.
As to the choice, BWV gives you the better location but OKW gives you the much larger space. Possibly it depends on the group. There are many who can do a trip with extended family of 11 in one large unit like the GV. Then again there are many who, if they attempted that, would end up in prison blues. If you are the former, I would likely go for the big GV. If the latter, split the rooms at BWV.
If it were me and we had our own transportation I would go with the GV at OKW for sure. If relying on WDW transportation I would stay at BWV easier for everyone to come and go to 3 of the parks.
Do the people in your group have a resort preference? Our family has done big trips at both OKW and BWV. In fact I bought OKW points just to be able to book those bargain GVs there at 11 months. But after staying at OKW, including a GV, they all wanted to go back to BWV the next time. The 2 resorts have such different vibes that I think you would be able to guess the style that fits your group better than strangers on the DIS. I love both resorts myself and choose based on what we have planned for activities during our stay.
We have never stayed in a grand villa but love OKW. We have never stayed at BWV, so that is why we are not sure which one to go with. Both are available and we will be booking in the am. I thought the BW would be nice at night but rather cramp bc of the smaller rooms while OKW is a larger space but nothing to do around the resort at night.

I think that the nighttime activity on the BW is one of the draws for my family. Some like strolling around World Showcase and then watching Illuminations and being able to walk or boat back to the room in 10 minutes. Some like just hanging out on the BW and watching the street performers or stopping at ESPN. A couple of them adore Jellyrolls. I love having ice cream from Seashore Sweets after Illuminations and watching the people on the BW. But the rooms are definitely smaller than OKW (except the GVs at BWV which are big).
