Is the 3rd OKW grand villa bedroom with the double beds a lot smaller than the bedroom with the queen size beds? Is there a chair in that bedroom? Just wondering why they put double instead of queen beds in that bedroom. (I'm figuring out sleeping/bedroom arrangements for 9 - 10 gals for our trip in October). Thanks.

The bedrooms upstairs are not the same size. One is over the master and is quite a bit large. The other is over the kitchen. There is no chair in the smaller one and I don't know about the other one. I do find it strange that the sink and mirror area is better in the small bedroom. Two people can use it easily. In the larger one the mirror area is smaller. I see the larger one being great for a family group or one that needs a crib. There is another bathroom downstairs next to the master. It has a shower not a tub. So really there are 4 bathrooms and room for 10 all with beds. The sofa bed makes 12. For a group of girls, I would say the small bedroom is only good for 2 even though 4 can sleep there. There isn't really any room for 4 with stuff. If you only need the bed for sleeping you can use the extra space in the master or larger bedroom for clothes. We usually only put 2 in the smaller when we stay there. Hope this helps. Have a great trip.

I don't know if the plan changed, but our rooms were reversed.

We stayed in a GV in March and the larger room was over the kitchen. It was quite large; had 2 queen beds and had a lounge type chair in it (similar in size to the ones in the master bedroom of all the OKW villas bigger than a studio). Even with all those things, there was plenty of leftover room. We had 2 couples staying in that room and they had plenty of room.
That room also had a lot of closet space. My guestimate is that it was a similar size to the OKW 1-2 bed unit master bedroom.

The room closest to the top of the stairs was the smaller room. It was closer to the master bedroom and probably works out in a plan to be above the downstairs bath and master bath. It had a sort of medium size closet with 2 doors just off the bathroom. My MIL, FIL and 16 yo niece stayed in that room. The room was a bit tight, but there was space to move around all the beds and they said they had plenty of room for their stuff. I kn ow there was not a chair in that room because my FIL needed a chair to sit down and put on his shoes. We brought one up from the dining room and there was still space to get around in the room (although a bit tight). My guestimate is that it is about the size of the OKW studio, minus the space where the table is and minus the largest closet in a dedicated 2 bedroom.

I thought both of the upstairs bedrooms have two queen beds - that's what it says in the room layout descriptions. Where did you see that the beds are doubles??

The old spiral Member guidebook says one with queens and one with doubles. The newest guidebook doesn't say. The website says each has queens but I'm pretty sure it's wrong for OKW.

Oh great. . . my 6'5" brothers will love to hear this. I guess I'll call MS in the morning and find out for sure!

I'm not positive what size the beds in the smaller bedrooom were, but they looked like queens to me. (I didn't sleep in them though).

Here's the description from Deb Wills site.

Three-Bedroom Grand Villas are, at a whopping 2265 square feet, beautiful, expensive and hard to get! All units are two stories, with the full kitchen, dining room, great room, laundry room, master bedroom and bath, and fourth bathroom on the first floor. The second floor consists of two bedrooms, each w/its own private bathroom and TV. One bedroom has two queen-size beds and is very similar to the second bedroom of the two-bedroom unit, and the other is slightly smaller with two double beds. The great room has an open, two-story ceiling (as does the foyer), 32" TV and stereo in an armoire, a dining area with four chairs, and queen size sofa sleeper, loveseat, and chair and ottoman. The dining room has a large table that seats eight, connecting to a home-size kitchen.

The master bedroom and bath is basically the same as in the one and two-bedroom units, but it does have a second easy chair, and the bathroom is laid out a bit differently. There is a full size bathroom off of the living room that is for any guests sleeping on the sofa. The living room and all bedrooms have ceiling fans. Of course, Grand Villas also have a balcony with dining table, four chairs, and ceiling fan with light.

I can GUARANTEE the beds in the smaller bedroom upstairs are doubles and not queens. That's the way they have been in every GV we have stayed in. Also, the smaller bedroom with the doubles is always the one over the kitchen (the first room at the top of the stairs). The bigger room is over the master as is closer to the size of an OKW studio. The smaller bedroom also has a smaller closet, but is convenient with the dressing area. Last time, we had a couple plus two girls in that room, and they got along fine. Another time, we put all kids in that room, and worked out GREAT for that! BTW, the pull out in the living room is the new more comfortable kind, and the last trip we had two folks sleeping there as well. They loved the hall bath! I think the decor of the hall bath has the best tile in any OKW bathroom with the exception of the public ones near Olvia's.

I can confirm your guarantee, those were double beds in the smaller BR and the layout is such that it is over the kitchen. Just came back from staying in a GV the week before last. I knew they were doubles though, so no surprise for us. We had one adult in each bed in that room. i WAS surprised that the downstairs bathroom was a full bathroom (with shower). It was nice that all 10 of us could be ready at the same time pretty much.

I do have one funny story about that hall bathroom shower though! The first time we stayed in a GV, our DS (then about 21) stayed in the living room, so the hall bath was "his". The rest of us had all gotten up and gone off to the parks early while he slept in. WHen he met us about 2 hours later, he had a funny story to tell. He got up and got in the shower. He had very long hair at that time, so it took him awhile to wash and rinse his hair. He had just gotten out of the shower and was wrapped in a towel, when he heard the front door open. It was maintenance. It seems the shower was leaking into the unit below and they came to check on it! He didn't hear them knock because he was still in the bathroom. It was a pretty funny surprise for him!

The handicapped accessible GV (unit 4815) is laid out differently then because the location of the smaller and larger upstairs bedrooms was definately reversed. The larger bedroom was the one over the kitchen (but the bedroom over the kitchen is not the first room at the top of the stairs). The handicapped accessible GV is a corner unit, which also would make a difference in the layout. The plan for 4815 did not match the GV plan that is posted on the DVC website. The bottom floor is a mostly a mirror image of that plan (the big differences come in the master bath). The top floor is very different than the plan - the large and small bedrooms are on the same side as the plan shows (not a mirror image like the downstairs is, so the small bedroom is at the top of the stairs, but is not over the kitchen). Also, the upstairs bathrooms and closets are reversed compared to the plan (so the bathroom would be 'above' the bedroom on a plan of 4815).
Anyway, it is very different than the regular plan.
Deb Wills site has some pictures of the non-HA OKW GV.
Also, I noticed if you compare the larger upstairs bedroom from the plan on the Disney website, that bedroom looks to be larger than the master bedroom.

Thanks so much everyone. We will be in a wheelchair accessible unit, so will most likely get the unit layout that Sue described.

We were in a Handicap-accessible GV in building 62 or 63. The larger bedroom was over the master, and the smaller, with the double beds was over the kitchen area.

I believe the one in building 62 or 63 has the entrance at the second floor level (but sonce the building has elevators, it is accessible). If that is true, it would be built with the same configuration as the non-accessible GVs.
The one in building 48 is a first floor entrance and is on a corner, so it would be different than the ones that are entered on 2nd floor.
