We are planning on visiting WDW in December. My daughter will be in the CP and we want to visit her around the holidays. We will probably go the first or second week of December. We will be a group of 5 adults, and my mother needs a wheelchair most of the time (respiratory issues). Can anyone suggest which resort would be the best choice? I had heard that Old Key west was a good choice since you can drive right up to your villa. Is this the case? Would another reosrt be a better fit for us? Thanks!

Very good choice. Also, they are the largest villas which will come in handy with 5 adults. Are you going with 2 Bedrooms? My friend got a great deal with free dining during a value period like you (last September). He had 3 adults and 3 kids and they were thrilled with the rooms!

You'll need to request a first floor villa because most of the buildings at OKW do not have elevators. You'll have one king sized bed in the master bedroom, one queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room and one twin sized sleeper chair in the living room. Only one bathroom.

If you are planning on booking on points, it's not going to happen because that is a very popular time for members to go. You might find something for cash directly through Disney Reservation Center.

A studio would have two queen beds, but you wouldn't be able to have five in the room, only four. And you would have to request first floor to be accessible.

Thanks for all the information! I would have to choose a 2 bedroom unit since it would be my husband and myself, my daughter and her boyfriend and my mother. I'm hoping for a good CM discount since my other daughter will be working at Disney with the College Program at that time. I wanted something that affords some privacy for each of us, yet with no stairs since it's hard for my mother. We wouldn't be using DVC points so I hope that would make it a bit easier to find a room.

SSR has elevators in all buildings (and nearly as convenient parking as OKW) but their 1BRs don't fit 5 adults.

if you are staying in a 2BR, SSR might be better (but the OKW 2BRs are larger.)

If you are planning to stay during a time when free dining is offered for all Guests, then it's not as common to have them offer a CM discount- the FD fills the rooms for them. That said, it would be a greater possibility in a larger villa. You could always split up and book two rooms though if you want OKW or SSR.
