OKW & Dec availability at 7 months out? (Family trauma!)

My original plan is to book at our home BCV in a few weeks for a few nights between Christmas and New Years for just my immediate family. (I will ~TRY~ to switch to VWL at the 7th month mark.)

I've been feeling a little guilty that my hubby mentioned I've taken the girls several times to WDW with my Mom, but not with his mom. (Make note MIL and I aren't the best of friends...) Sooo, I've been reworking our plans. Hubby is taking his Dad to OKW for 4 nights in March for Braves spring training so I'm not hogging the points if you know what I mean.

Course, hubby doesn't wnat to commit his family for that far out. So, I'm kinda left hanging in the air. (Thinking I'm sorry I might have even brought this up with him?) I'm gonna go ahead and book our original trip, but coem May at the 7th month mark I'm gonna either try to switch to VWL for just us or if they can commit try for OKW for all of us instead.

Anyone think I have a chance? I will have 8 peole in that case. (Us with our 2 girls, his parenst and my BIL and SIL.) I thought about a 2 bedroom, but then BIL and SIL won't have their own bathroom. (I woudl give the master bedroom to hsi preants, we'd get the studio part and then they'd have to sleep on the pullout in the den area.) So I thought 3 studios woudl be better for us instead? We'd all get our own private spcae and I think I'd feel better about that personally myself. Plus, it is the smae exact points.

(Are the OKW 2 bedrooms all lock off or are there any dedicated? I woudl like a lock off in thsi instance to avoid the in-laws! )

What are the chances of getting 3 studios at OKW at 7 months out for a few days between Christmas and New years?

And to go further, would I'd be able to get them all in the smae building with any luck?

I think OKW woudl be good for us. It woudl enable us to still keep all our nighst on our other trips since it is lower points. Pool not too much of a concern since it was too cold to swim this past time, but maybe we'd even get lucky and the slide woudl be done!

This year, HH was very light the week before Christmas, probably only 10 of us there. Then as Christmas got closer, the resort went from 20% full to 75% full. However, Jessica told me that they are completely sold out for New Years Eve.

Not sure if this info is helpful or not, but just thought you would want to know.

You can request a lock off when you reserve if you want to. I would want to have one full kitchen and living room. Not sure about availablility at 7 months for Christmas. I would think it would work if you had to go waitlist.

I guess I coudl call at 7 montsh and ask for either a 2 bedroom or 3 studios. Maybe one of thsoe options woudl eb avavilable.

P.S. We booked our Christmas trip in August, and had no problem getting a reservation.

The idea of everyone having their own "space" is a good one. Sometimes it makes for a better time if everyone can get away for a bit. This would also making cancelling easier if people back out -- just cancel the studios.It's very nice to have the gathering facilities, washer, etc., etc. so you might want to put 1 one bedroom and 2 studios into the mix if you can handle the points. If that's not possible, studios work out just fine, too.

It may be tricky to get three but if you let the waitlist work it may come through. OKW will do their best to get you into the same building/area but nothing is guaranteed. However, it shouldn't be a major concern.
