Hi, I was told to check over here since OKW is a DVC resort

Due to a medical issue I need to request a building close to the pool/hospitality house.
We will be travelling with toddlers and looking at the map is it necessary to cross a busy road to get to the pool/HH from buildings 23,24,25,26 and 27?

From the map it looks like 11-14 is further from the pool/HH than 23-27, is that correct?

Also we are staying in a 2 bedroom. I know the buildings are more than one floor so I was curious if the one's ground level have a enclosed patio?
Are the one's on the upper floors alot of stairs to climb? I am not sure how I feel about being on a high floor between stairs and a balcony with two toddlers, any feedback? Thanks

There are no elevators at OKW, except for bldgs 62, 63 and 64. A ground floor is probably a good option for you. The balconies are identical on the first,2nd and 3rd floors. A toddler could possible climb over the railings, but on the ground floor the chance of serious injury is unlikely.

If you stay in bldgs 11 to 14, you'll need to cross the parking area, as well as a street. Bldgs 23 to 26, you'll need to cross the bridge, then a street (there is a crosswalk) to get to the hospitality area.

Personally, I think both areas are equal as far as safety. Both areas are about equidistant from the main pool and hospitality area. Wil lyou be using a scooter or other mobility device? If so, you definately need ground floor.

There are three other pools at OKW and the Turtle Pond pool is really very nice. Miller Road and South Point also have nice pools. I never really understand why people "need" to be close to the Hospitality House and the main pool. There are five bus stops at OKW and I've never really had to wait long for a bus.

There really isn't any way to get to the main pool and the hospitality house without crossing a road that a bus might drive on.

You might be more comfortable at BWV, BCV, AKV or VWL if you want an elevator and no stairs. You'd also have inside corridors.

We stayed on a ground level and it was very convenient for my dad who has mobility issues. The enclosed balcony was very nice - just don't let the kids out there alone and you will be fine. We were in the Miller Rd. area- building 18. It is not technically "close to HH" but it was really convenient.

I'm not sure what "medical necessity" would require being near HH? If you have a medical necessity to have a 1st floor or elevator building, that can be requested or even booked through special needs. HH is a seperate booking catagory now at OKW, so to insure that choice, it would have to be done at the time of booking.

As others have mentioned, you are only as far away from HH as the nearest bus stop. If you can't cross a street, don't stay at OKW, because you will often have to cross a street to get to a bus stop too. There is nothing special about HH other than that it is the last bus stop on the way out of the resort when going to the parks, and thus makes your time on the bus shorter. With toddlers, you might actually enjoy the neighborhood pools more. All three of the neighborhood pools have playground and sand areas connected to them as well as handicapped accessible bathroom/shower rooms.
