Good news-DVC members will be elligible for the Dining Plan, ext.wkon Buildings 13, 14, 47, and 48; repaving; Replacement of Grand villa floors (ior was it refurbishment). The bad news-dues are increasing 9.8% (I wrote that down because it seemed high to me); room satisfaction at OKW is 79% (that seemed low). More news when I get home if no one else reports-I'm paying $10 for 15 minutes for this computer.
Now I'm back and have time for more details. As someone reported elsewhere, the dining plan will be for stays commencing in April. Most of the increase in dues was because of increased property insurance costs, worker's compensation issues and overall employment costs. Jim noted that insurance alone has gone up at least 40% in Florida after last year's hurricanes. He also noted how CMs are being trained in ways to avoid injury (proper lifting, stretching before work, etc.). There was also mention of on-line capabilities for members-viewing points, banking and borrowing, etc. "soon". However, I don't think he saw booking on-line as something that would come to pass soon. Both the Annual Pass discount and the DVC golf disocunt appear to be continuing "for the foreseeable future"; however, in response to questions, there are no plans to make Florida DVC members elligible for increased discounts or for discounts to be made available for any other pass than the Annual Pass. There was much discussion of ways to improve booking for the Member's Cruise-perhaps a lottery system, maybe making members inelligible to repeat the Member's Cruise (this would give more members "a chance", rather than have the same members, who've figured out how to be the first in line for reservations, every time). There was virtually no mention of the new pool slide at OKW(at least none that I remember), which rather surprised me.
Oh and good news for me-after my 15 minutes the person at the front desk of the Computer Center just waved me off, saying "That's OK, go ahead." Maybe she knew I was on the DIS boards!
