okw and gifts in the room

Hi,

Hoping someone could help me find the answer to this quickly. A co-worker of mine is heading down to disney in couple of weeks and staying at OKW. Her friend is a DVC owner. They are doing a girl's weekend and the day they arrive is her friend's birthday. As a thank you she wanted to surprise her with a gift in the room. She was thinking something along the line of chocolate covered strawberries and wine and maybe some cheese. I also mentioned the chocolate cinderella slipper I think they still have. However, she called today and got the run around. They sent her call to the florist. Then the florist sent her to the person that deals with food but they said something to the effect of they don't have their own bakery at OKW so they couldn't do it. I'm sure somebody was probably misunderstanding somebody but, has anyone done this. Any experience with who to contact or what kind of surprised you have planned would be great. The DVC owner ( celebrating her birthday) will be turning 40. TIA for you help!

Food items would come through in-room dining at the resort, and OKW doesn't have in-room dining. The florist though could deliver something, but once she started talking about food, that's why they sent her elsewhere - they don't do food like that.

Any ideas what she could do? I don't think she wants to get her flowers.
I thought you could order mini cakes and such from the GF bakery. Would they send them over to the resort? Or will only provide them at a restaurant?

You would have to call the cake hotline and find out. There's a sticky thread on the Dining board about it.

The GF bakery only serves the restaurants and catering facilities of GF, it's not a store. So no pickup or delivery, it's just part of the kitchens at the resort.

Getting any kind of food delivered is only available at resorts with room service, and as the PP said, OKW doesn't have that.

I seem to remember that the Disney florist does baskets with assorted toiletries and spa products....how about something like that?

instead of pre-arrangement, i would surprise her by taking
anywhere she likes & give her a "gift" card [home made] with the
choice "to pick" her heart's desire!

inside magic kingdom has many special shops.

Check out Disneyflorist.com as I think you will be surprised with the choices. It would not be an "in-room" delivery. When they check in the front desk person would see a note on the reservation that they have a package. That the best that can be done now.
