Hi Guys

Im just doing some 'dummy' bookings to get some prices together to compare on my financial spreadsheet (SIGH!).

OKW will let me select 5 adults in a 1 bed apartment (1 king, 1 queen sleeper sofa & 1 chair sleeper)

but SSR wont? It will only allow me to choose a 2 bed apartment for 5 adults?

I thought that they were pretty much that same? Both OKW/SSR list 1 king bed, 1 queen sleeper sofa and 1 chair sleeper. I thought it might be because it was unavaliable for the time I am looking at booking but it let me select a 1 bed with 4 adults so they are avaliable!

Would 5 adults be a bit of a squeeze in a 1 bed apartment at OKW/SSR? We last stayed in a studio at SSR and that was perfect for 2 of us (I wouldn't want 4 of us in that one room) but I thought it would be OK in a 1 bed?

OKW are the biggest on property. I just stayed there in a 1 bedroom and was amazed. 5 adults will fit with plenty of room to spare. They also are the only ones to have FULL SIZE washer & dryer if I am not mistaken.

I LOVED sitting out on the porch having coffee in the am.

We had a 1 bed villa in SSR in February I don't remember a sleeper chair :/ there were arm chairs but nothing I would feel comfortable sleeping in every night for 2 weeks. There is plenty of space but I don't know if it something I would personally want to do. For the people that have to sleep in the lounge they don't really have any private space. In our SSR 1 bed there isn't actually a door separating the bedroom from the bath room. (Shower and toilet are in two separate rooms) but again not a lot of privacy.

We are staying in a 1 bed right now and there is no chair sleeper, just a sofa bed in the living area. The previous poster is quite right about privacy. In the past when we have had other with us we have had to employ the whistle system in the bathroom area. It's got a very peculiar layout. I wouldn't be happy staying there with people I didn't know very very well:rotfl:

The officially occupancy of a 1-bed at OKW is 5 while the 1-beds at SSR are only 4 guest.

OKW 1-beds use to be 4 until it was upgraded a few years ago when they also added a single sleeper chair.

It might seem strange when the maximum occupancy is the same for both the studio's and 1-bed's and although Disney won't allow 5 guest on a cash booking they will if you're a DVC member staying on points as you're allowed up to 5 adult guests and an infant.

It states when making a DVC booking at SSR in a 1-bed 'Sleeps 4 – 5th guest can be accomodated, but must provide their own bedding and linens'.

Whereas the new DVC Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will allow 5 adults not only in a 1-bed but also in a studio and you don't need to provide any bedding.

As for 5 adults in a 1-bed and would that be a squeeze, the rooms are large so it shoudn't be a squeeze but if you want some privacy then it depends on how close you all are as three of you will be sleeping in the same room (lounge/kitchen-diner). And all will share the one toilet, which if you're in building numbers up to 29 you'll have to go through the master bedroom to get to the bathroom. Whereas I believe buildings 30 and upwards have an extra door through the laundry room to the toilet, sink and shower with another door onto the whirlpool tub.

So, if you can get this verified you might want to think about requesting building number 30 and upwards which might make life it a little easier.

Are the sofa sleepers comfortable? It's not for 'older' adults but late teens.

There might only be 4 adults when I come to book so I might end up just booking the studio at OKW as there's 2 queen beds as opposed to a bed & a sofa.

If there's 5 adults it'll be the 1 bed at OKW. We stayed at SSR last so I suppose it would be nice to mix it up a bit! I can get prices up for any of the other villas for dates I'm looking at yet. Not sure if they are booked up or they just haven't released the prices yet!

I loved the sleeper chair, it was so comfy as its like a proper mattress :-)

I've only just come across this thread, so I don't know whether you've booked already or not. Just wanted to let you know that my DD (19) slept on the sleeper sofa and it caused her to have a lot of back pain while we were there. We did stay for 3 weeks so that might have make a difference, but the back problems did start before we got to the end of the 2nd week!

We are currently at OKW in a 1 bedroom, DD 18 really comfortable on chairbed( only 5'2" though) and DS on sofa bed. We are in building 38 and yes those 30+ do have entrance through laundry to bathroom. It would work if you are family or close friends, although its a pain that the shower & loo are in the same part of the bathroom, it's handy that there are two basins. 2nd area of bathroom off of bedroom has basin & spa bath. We have left sofa& chair up as beds, and re- arranged furniture slightly, moved coffee table against wall to make more room to walk. We tend to sit on balcony, there is a 2nd sofa also.:)

DD (15) found the chair bed comfortable as well! :thumbsup2 In fact when we first got there both of our DDs wanted the sofa bed, our youngest DD was very happy that she had decided to settle for the chair bed after listening to her sister complain about her back! :goodvibes

The most expensive!

Starts at $623.25 per night including tax for a standard view studio!

That is compared to $553.50 for a standard view studio at BLT which was previously the most expensive.

Yikes!!

Maybe I'll stick with SSR!
