We were very fortunate to be the first to stay in the newly refurbished 2BR at OKW # 3923! It is so nice! Nearly everything is brand new! Thanks again to OW for the point rental and for being such an awesome help in so many ways! Cheers to you!
Sincerely,
Scott

It looks clean, but totally boring and bland now. No Key West left at all. They look sad to me.

I miss the drawers in the bathroom vanities. I used them all the time. I wish they would add a few more towel bars in the bathrooms to hang up the towels.

Also going to miss the drawers.

I'm kinda torn here...For I'll finally be making our first stay here in the fall, in a 1BR, and don't know what to expect...Refurbished or not, it'' be a new experience. Initially If someone asked me, I would've said Sur gimme an updated room, but after hearing some of the complaints, now I'm not so sure.

I agree Scott. We stayed in updated 1 bedroom in January and it is beautiful. Heading back in October and will definitely be requesting another updated villa.

Hey, it's okay, people often don't like change... I am here to tell you all this renovation is terrific! Bravo!!
You miss the point. Change is okay, but removing all the theming is not. They could have left the art work since it was so Key West oriented. But they removed it and put in artwork with the wrong colors and theme. That Mickey and Minnie at the Beach would have been great at the BCV. The area rug would fit in well at BLT.

When you have owned at a resort for 21 years and suddenly it has lost all the charm inside the place, you begin to worry that they will do something similar outside. As a renter, you have no stake in this.

This. It's been my complaint with Disney for the past few years with every refurbishment or new build they do. I know why they make things bland; I just don't agree with them doing so. I've not owned quite as long as you, but like you, I'm sad that DVC continues to remove thematic elements in rooms and replaces them with whatever the latest, large scale purchases were: same-colored couches and chairs, inappropriate rugs/floor coverings, bland palettes. Do the rooms have a cleaner line to them? I guess so, but they're also very antiseptic and unemotional. . .dispassionate. I don't particularly dislike what I see above; I don't particularly like it, either (what is up with those window treatments?). When they refurbished VWL some four years ago, they did the same thing--pastel colors, color washed couches and chairs, removal of the thematic wall border--they "bored" it down. Disney used to insist on being more thematic--that's how they made their reputation. Now, their mission to save $$ in order to increase their payout to major stockholders has grabbed them by their. . .pocketbooks. It's okay that others don't agree; many love the new lines and color schemes, and they're just as valid as I am in their judgment. And many will cite (as some did when parking fees were introduced, et. al.), that Disney is following industry standards. I would simply counter that once upon a time, Disney set the standard rather than merely meet it.

Well, I've never stayed at OKW and I've been ok with changes resort-wide that some others don't like (no bedspread, etc.) but that rug does not look like it matches the room at all. It would make me crazy. I think I'd pull out the sofa bed and leave it open just to not have to look at it. Hope it's not that bad IRL.

Thank you! Looks great looking forward to our December trip!

Very generic. Nothing that lets you know that the resort is supposed to be themed on the tropical island of Key West, Florida. Key West is full of color, not 50 Shades of Gray. Here is what real, traditional, eclectic Key West looks like:
