With a few years of hindsight under your belt, I was wonder whether people who added years on to their OKW in retrospect think it was a good or bad move.

My wife added to ours thinking the resale price would probably be around the $15 a point cost between the 2042 and 2057 contracts eventually, but given the economy that may take a while (if at all).

Who knows, but in 2042 when DVC starts reselling the expired contracts at $500/pt maybe the 2057 market will at $133/pt will work out.:)

Even if there was or will be a $15 per point difference in the market values (currently there is almost no difference, maybe $5), what would be the point?

Pay $15 now, in order to get it back years from now when the contract is sold? Sorry, but the $15, or $25 LOL, pre-paid buy in was never a good idea.

At some point those extended contracts will be worth a little more than the 2042 contracts but it is almost inconceivable that the difference will be worth giving your money to Disney 30 years before those extra years kick in.

Well put, and exactly why we didn't do it when they offered it to us. I will be in my mid 90's when it originally expires anyway....Wont care!!:rotfl:

I'll be in my mid 80s when the 2042 contracts expire. If I am healthy enough and financially stable enough to continue to enjoy Disney, I hope DVC will allow me to change my mind and extend at that time. Otherwise, I saw no need to extend, and have signed the deeds giving it back to Disney in 2042.

We added the extra years to our contract but not because we expect to use them since we will be long gone by then. We did it to leave to our grandchildren. So we haven't changed our mind about the wisdom of extending.

I'd rather have the money now than the time then. I won't even care about it then. If I'm still alive.
