Hi:
We have always stayed in a dedicated 2 bedroom. However, this trip DH and I are staying an additional 4 nights in a studio. Considering requesting 2 bedroom lockoff. My concern is my son’s family of 4 will be in studio lockoff and what the difference will be for them. They have always stayed in the second bedroom in a dedicated 2 bedroom. Love to hear others experiences with this same situation.
Thank you .

yeah, theres a door, its just a normal bedroom door in a dedicated. In the other one, its basically a studio room and a 1 bedroom suite with a lockable door between because they can be rented out separately or together, like adjoining hotel rooms. However, if you are wanting to share the space with family, and dont need the lockable door, i would go with the dedicated. There is a larger closet in the area where the kitchenette is, and that is important when you need the storage for longer trips and dont need a kitchenette because you obviously have access to the big kitchen. Basically its whether you want that second bedroom to be like a separate hotel room or if youd rather it feel like a bedroom in the larger apartment of the suite.

we decided on the dedicated at OKW for our June trip, so i sympathize with this choice, it was complicated to figure out!

Since OKW has 2 real beds for the studio, not much difference there.

In the dedicated they won’t have their own balcony or kitchenette (more storage without kitchenette).

Also, to state the obvious, in the lock-off they will have a separate front door.

I remember the first time we ever stayed in a lock-out I was confused when we checked-in and entered through the studio door when we were bringing our stuff in. I thought they made a mistake since I was used to dedicated two bedrooms. I was about to go down to the front desk, then I remembered the reservation was a lock-off and opened the adjacent room door with my band. :o

Thank you for the replies. I know in the dedicated there’s a large closet. It’s a long time since I stayed in a studio so I don’t remember if it’s a large closet or the size of a hallway closet. If it has the large closet, I think that would work.

Just to calcify. You don’t request a lock off…it is its own booking category and it has to be booked that way from the start.

Thank you. I should have mentioned that I did book it as a dedicated. We added the extra days in a studio after the booking, so if I decided to see if we could change it, I know I would have to call and request the lock off and I am aware it's a request and can't be guaranteed. I just couldn't remember the size of the closet in the lock off.

Just to follow-up on Sawdisw and that comment. Make sure you understand that 2BR lock-off and 2BR (dedicated) are booking categories - not requests. If you want to change to a 2BR lock-off, you need to verify availability and change your reservation. Sorry - you might already know that, but your response about a request 'not being guaranteed' sounded off to me. It's not like asking for top floor and not getting it. You'll need to check on the site (or call) and see if you can change to a lock-off, and then book the reservation as a lock-off (if available). The points are the same, but the room would be what you prefer.

I agree with others - at OKW, the diff between dedicated and lock-off at OKW is much less than other resorts - where a lock-off would get you a room with a bed and a pull-out, and a dedicated would get you 2 beds. At OKW, the 2 beds are there for either type. It's one of the things we really like at OKW. Enjoy your trip!

You are right. I used the wrong phrasing. I have stayed at OKW many times over the years. It is our home resort and we usually stay in a one bedroom or a dedicated two bedroom.
I really appreciate all the replies.

You could just go back on line and modify your reservation for a lock-off. That way you'll also know if 1 is available.

The dedicated has a second bathroom sink and counter outside the bathroom door (in place of the kitchenette).
