This was our third stay at OKW this year but the first in a unit larger than a studio. We had a dedicated 2 bedroom in bldg 26. Loved the location as we could easily walk to HH and the Peninsular rd bus stop was right there too. Great view off the large balcony(noticed that SSR balconies are all same size no matter what the unit size) and we enjoyed bird watching. Couldn't see the fireworks like we could in bldg 25 though. We visited VWL for a DIS/DVC meet but grandma said she liked OKW better. We'll be staying at VWL for the half ironman race in May though. Will definitely get a 2 bedroom again next X-mas, very glad that the waitlist came through.

OKW is a great location for running. Although I ended up only going out the 2nd and last mornings(hello taper) I did 20 miles on the 18th and 10.2 on the 24th. From the HH end of OKW, down Peninsular Rd, down the nature trail to DTD, through DTD, out the Marketplace end trail to SSR, around SSR following the water, and back going by the Turtle Pond quiet pool was 7 miles. Yes, I still did laps but I was afraid I was going to be doing 4 mile laps rather than 6.5-7 miles. SSR is very nice to run around, I really liked the landscaping with the gardens facing the ponds. I'm looking forward to staying there sometime. There is adequate fitness equipment at OKW and it is quite easy to get to the very well equipped gym at SSR via the bridge to the golf course clubhouse. People were friendly and I felt safe even though I started prior to official sunrise both mornings.

DVC was a great decision and I am looking forward to many more enjoyable trips. Sister starts the College Program Jan 9th so I am starting to feel the tickle of add-on-itis. Actually, it's a full blown attack as I was planning on adding more points in 2006 anyway.

We're headed to OKW on Friday. It's a great place to run, plus you can run all the way over to SSR and DTD and the DTD hotels. Gets you a few miles.

Thanks for the report. :sunny:

We might give OKW a try soon.

Good luck in May. Dh will be there again, too. :wave2:
