We are thinking about renting DVC next summer. Leaning towards OKW due to price. We've never stayed DVC. It will be me, DH, my mom (early 60s), DS9, DS2.5, and a 10 month old.

Would we have enough room in a 1 bedroom, or should we try to do a 2 bedroom? It seems like, from what I've read, that OKW is a bit bigger than the other DVC resorts.

Thanks!

If you can afford it, go for the 2 bedroom and let Mom have her own room.

I would definitely go for the 2bdrm if you can. The villas are pretty large at OKW, but the 2bdrm gives you and extra bathroom, and that alone is worth it to me.

In a 1 bedroom, you have a king in the master, a queen sofabed in the living room and a twin sleeper chair. Pack & Play for the youngest. 1 bathroom. Pretty tight. A 2 bedroom would give you an additional 2 queens and another bathroom.

Even with the size of 1 beds at OKW being so large, a 2 bed will allow more privacy for adults.

For sure if you can do it a 2 bedroom! Kids can have 2nd bedroom, and you can put them to bed and still have be able to stay up. One bedroom will be tight. I book a 2 bedroom with 4 or more people all the time. Good luck. btw you may want to look at BWV - location standard 2 bdrm if you book (rent) in advance with a BWV owner 2bdrm is only 5 points more then OKW and location is walking distance to 2 parks which is a huge plus! Also the AKV 2 bdrm standard is less points then OKW and I believe the room has 3 full bathrooms. Good luck!

Here's another vote for the two bedroom. The one bedroom may be doable but the two bedroom will provide more comfort and piece of mind. I, being the same age as your mom, might find the sofa sleeper or the twin sleeper chair a bit of a challenge.

While the above is true, BWV gives you one less real bed, and THAT is a big difference in my book. Plus you get far less room. I'd definitely go with the OKW 2 bedroom and put the kiddos in the second bedroom where you can close the door. I'm in my mid 60's, and I would have no problem at all sleeping on the pullouts (either twin or queen).

Thanks so much for all of the replies. We will be going in the summer so we will be spending a decent amount of time in the room and t the resort. Guess I need to go crunch more numbers!

Definitely a two bedroom since you have a third adult. Your mom will then get her own bathroom and a real bed. We get a two bedroom at OKW for our family of five, three kids. It has been tempting to save points and get a 1BR, but we really enjoy the extra space of the 2BR since we do spend some time hanging out in our villa.
