Mr D--
You left out "fabulous scenery," or have you been there long enough not to notice. I've never been as far north as Anchorage, but I spend a week in and around Juneau and it was just amazing!

Pin Wizard - Reckon you must be psychic!!

'Timing is EVERYTHING' you said and how right you are!!

Rang him this morning and we had a good chat, and, everyone keep your fingers and toes crossed, hopefully we're getting together soon and he's ringing me in the week - here's hoping!
That's GREAT, Astrid! I'll be crossing my fingers for you!! The first time I became a firm believer in the timing was when I met someone that made me feel things in my heart that I never felt with anyone else. But the timing was wrong. :( He had been dating someone for a year and was soon going to propose to her. He actually said to me...If I met you sooner, things could be different. Whew! Then I knew timing was everything. We had some "friendly" evenings together, but I really admired him for having loyalty to her. Made him that much more interesting. But I have to say that my reconnection with this guy from high school is even better! :Pinkbounc But I'm really curious how he feels. We don't talk about feelings. However, if and when we meet for dinner during the holidays, I'd REALLY be curious. He recently asked me what I want in a relationship. I told him that when I have those really strong feelings, I want the person to feel the same about me. I've missed that in every relationship so far. It seems to have been just one of us feeling that way. Bummer! So we'll see. ;)

Note to self: Must hang around PI and Jellyrolls next week. :)

Single and NOT interested in being any other way. I have been widowed almost ten years now. Being a very young widow, I was anxious to find someone else to share my life with. I did and twice they were alcoholics. So, I've sworn off men! Happy to just be with my girls, my dogs, Disney, and the DAWGS!

You all are scaring me! I don't want to go through all this. I'm not ready to go through all this...don't know that I ever will be. Just want my DH back....but that can't happen. :(

Ugadog...I responded to you PM. Hope you got it!

Sorry you met some irresponsible ones, Ugadog. You never know what's coming down the road though. ;)

I remember saying I just wanted Keith back. Lasted quite a while. But in the meantime I didn't like feeling so lonely. Finally went out with someone after he was gone 8 months. That was on again, off again. I thought of that guy as my "bridge." He basically helped me cross over from my past life as a wife to a new life as "single again." It stunk, but I needed to do it. But still...he's the only person I dated! Here it is 11 years later. Not an easy thing to do. I wouldn't worry about it or be scared by it, Vicki. Of course you want your husband back!!! ((((((((Hugs)))))))

Edited to add: Oh! And when my sister and I had the opportunity to talk alone during all the burial preps, she asked me where I saw myself in 5 years. I had no clue! But I told her that I couldn't ever imagine being married to someone else. Things are changing for me on that! But it's taken a looooooooong time.

House_of_princesses, your loss is so recent - take all the time that you need. It may be forever, or it might not be. When and if you are ready you will know. Hugs to you. I am so sorry for your loss.

Pin Wizard - is the guy you are referring to the married one? If he is, please be careful....I don't want to see you get burned.

No. And with the married friend...we both have limits. Can't do anything we shouldn't be doing. But I don't have a problem with dinner after not seeing him since high school...26 years ago!

PW, you have so many men in your life that I got confused - LOL! :o :p

I totally believe men and women can be friends. My ex-h and I have maintained a friendship. We even talk about people we are dating - how wierd is that? :hyper:

Here's to old friends becoming new friends! :smooth:

Married men are Big NO NOs, but the last three men that I've met are married. One is divorcing, the other two are married married. And it's not like I'm looking for them, they find me.

ROFL! Believe me, there are NONE! Dinner with the married one is just because he's geographically close to my sister. If I weren't visiting her for the holidays, we wouldn't meet. But we've been e-mailing for 5 years and are pretty good friends. The "bridge" guy was Craig. He wasn't for me and I knew it. I stayed in that relationship way too long because (at the time) it was better than the lonliness. Unfortunately, no guys here now! LOL!

Isn't it disgusting?! I swear...once they're married 20 years or so they must be really bored and looking for some excitement. Go look somewhere else!!! And getting together with a divorcing one on the rebound isn't so terrific either. Did that once...never again! When I met him he lied and said he was divorced. Three dates later he told me he was just separated.

I just don't know where to find any decent single guys anymore. Church is out b/c they go from having one foot in the grave to having one foot out of the womb. I no longer allow my friends to set me up with anyone. The last guy is still following me around like a lost puppy dog and he is NOT my type. I won't date anyone whose hair and nails are longer than mine. I'm not desperate so it's not like I'm knocking guys doors down. But I didn't think that it would be too much to ask to find a decent guy who respects me an my daughter and adores us both. I'm kindof putting it in Gods hands and He can do the searching for me. He has better searching power than I do! ;)

LOL! Isn't that the truth! Here in FL, many at church are seniors. There's a singles' group there from 50 up, and another group for 30-40. Hmmm...where are the 41-49 years olds? The group I'm looking for! Hair and nails longer than yours...aauugghh! I agree! No way! And if I see an earring, forget it! Don't even go to the nose rings, tongues, etc. They're on the definite NO list! LOL! Sorry you have the puppy dog following you. I've actually had my phone number changed a couple times because of something similar. Unlisted is the only way to go! ;) I tried putting it in God's hands a long time ago. He's taking waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long now! I have a friend who told me she told God exactly what she was looking for...and she says she got it! Hmmmmmmm...she must have an in that I don't.

HeHe...too funny PW!

Who would have known that this little thread you started to see who was single on the CB would turn into what it has? I for one wanted to say thanks to you PW. I LOVE to hear what everyone's plans are, and how they are going about looking for that special someone. It is so wonderful that we have such a great group to share things with, support, and be supported by. The DIS is great for so many reasons.

It is almost like we have started our own little "singles" club on the CB!! :teeth:

I for one had a fairly dull weekend. Spent all of today cleaning and then working. Came home and couldn't find anything interesting to watch on TV so I ended up watching this made-for-tv movie on the Disney channel with the girl from The OC (which I absolutely LOVE by the way) in it.

I am definitely looking forward to Wednesday night. I have no idea what we are going to do. He told me that I had to decide, because he suggested the last thing we did....***sigh*** I said, but if I went first again you would go last again, and you don't want that right?? ;) hmmm, I don't think he fell for that! There is honestly nothing going on where we live. I am thinking about maybe suggesting that we drive to Orlando. At least there are clubs and bars and other fairly interesting night spots in that area.

Any suggestions guys? Keep in mind that we are on the "just friends" level currently so I don't want to suggest anything too "datey" (ok I know that isn't a word!! ;) ). The following week we have a county fair coming. I can remember a night years ago back when we were in HS that a huge group of us and our friends went to that fair together. I thought I would suggest that we go back. I think we would have a good time. (you know, drink, spin around in the air on rides that don't look exactly safe, being manned by someone who probably didn't finish the 4th grade, and getting sick!!)

Hey, hello, I'm a single man, without tatoos or piercings!

I am not a tatoo or piercing kinda girl, and most of my friends would be the same way. I think only a certain type of girl goes for tatooed and pierced guys. Of course I do have to say that I think tribal bands are HOTTTT , but only if the guy has nice arms and can pull off that surfer look!

:wave2:

All right, Barry! :teeth: You threw me for a loop with the roller coaster thing. I had never been on one until I was at WDW with my son. Funny what you will do for your kid! ;) No tatoos or piercings...that gets you 25 points. ;)

Well thanks, Disney845! ;) I just love this thread also. It's a lot of fun. I love your description of the county fair...LOL! I have news for you...I don't know how old you are, but as we get older, we can't handle those rides like we used to! I was at a small fair with my son a while back and felt soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sick on the Tilt-a-Whirl! I literally thought I was going to throw up. I YELLED for the guy to stop the thing and let me off. Lucky for me he did! :earseek:

My goal in the future is to have another home in Florida for wintering, say from dec- march, we have usually 6 months of winter and though its been warmer than usual these last couple of years its still winter with ice covered roads sometimes as late as june.

But the air is clean, no ghettos, low crime rate, lots of wildlife, good jobs and affordable homes. So thats why I stay here:)
Florida is definitely the place to be in the winter if you don't like the cold weather somewhere else. I have friends that took a cruise to Alaska a year or two ago. How beautiful!!!!! Affordable homes...that was our number one reason we left NJ. Lower pay in FL, but we could buy a home here.
