Maybe I shouldn't think out loud. :)
You can always ask one. :)

I had a hot date last night - with my guy that I met on Match! We went out for Mexican and this morning ;) he cooked me an omlet. It was his first time to make an omlet and it was actually quite good!! I will say that dating a man who cooks is a wonderful thing - I don't think my ex-h cooked for me once. Barry, are you listening? hint hint

Pin Wizard: The winking thing is new to match. It sounds like fun! Best of luck to you!
You're way past HOT and into SIZZLING! ;) Sounds like you had a fantastic time. Congrats and Good Luck!! :teeth:

Sorry your time out was less than what you hoped for, Astrid. :( But keep at it...timing is EVERYTHING! Has to be the right place and time to find the right person.

I ran into him a few times, and then took the initiative to ask him if he wanted to hang out at some time (my friend still can't believe I did this, she teases me and told me I was "hitting" on him. I said I have never "hit" on anyone in my life!! :) ).

With both of us working and both going to school full time, our schedules are kinda weird. We made plans for last Wednesday evening, dinner at 6:30pm. Our "dinner plans" lasted 11½ hours!!!

we had to reschedule to this upcoming Wednesday again. Looking forward to it.

It isn't a "dating" thing. We are friends, as we had been years ago in school. But I had a great time. He is intelligent and funny, and cute ;) Could it turn into something???? It is a little early to tell, but even if it never does, I have re-struck up a good friendship and will definitely have a good time hanging out with him!
Wooooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooooo! It sounds promising! I have quite a few friends...including my sister...who started out saying...he's just a friend. Many are now married to them! My sister is still "dating" since it's only been 5 months. But he's changed from "just a friend" to a "boyfriend!" ;) I had a similar experience with someone I went to school with. Only we reconnected online. I'm planning on visiting my sister during the holidays, and he's telling me we need to get together for dinner. Woooooooooooooo hooooooooooooo! :) But it's as friends. Can't go past that at the present time. But he says...you never know what's in the future.

Hmmm well marriage is definitely not something I am in the market for...but there are a lot of levels between "just friends" and married!!!! ;) ;)

Hi everyone,
I've been lurking here for a few days now. Finally decided to come out into the open. I really identify with the frustrations about meeting interesting and eligible men. There certainly haven't been many hanging about where I've been! Haven't tried the online dating thing yet, although I do know someone who met and married someone from one of them and is, by all reports, quite happy. So, I guess there's hope.

I'm heading off to WDW for a few days in just over a week. (Counting down? Me? Well, yes, actually!) I'll keep my eyes open for Prince Charming.

CoasterAddict sounds promising, although my coaster riding will be severly truncated due to schooling. Hmmm...I wonder if I should check out her website...hmmm... :)

Welcome, CoasterAddict! :) Have fun at WDW when you go, and keep an eye out!

Barry...You just confirmed that you definitely have a thing for coaster girls! :smooth:

What is Pleasure Island like as far as a meeting spot? I'm staying in Orlando offsite in jan and possibly looking for someone new in my life. Social gatherings up here in Alaska suck, just too few people, so after many years there is no excitement of new faces.

I was wondering if its better to go out during the week when its slower or try the clubs on a weekend, any advice?

I could be wrong, but I don't think that Pleasure Island is a place to meet that "special" someone. There are a lot a lot of people on vacation that go there. I think there are more tourists than there are locals. Church Street use to be a good place to go, but that is no longer in existence any longer. I don't know where people go to meet people, which is probably part of my problem.

That has to be tough in Alaska! Florida is transient enough, I would imagine Orlando is even more so with all the tourists. But you never know...you could just run into the right person. I remember years ago I had a friend who went to the Jersey shore and met a girl from PA while there. They married down the road. ;) Good luck!!

I haven't had a lot of luck meeting people in "clubs." Not that I've had tremendous luck meeting people in other places either, *sigh*). But I'll be checking out PI and also Jelly Rolls when I'm down there in a week or so. I'll let you know. :smooth:

Thats the big problem, I've never had success at a bar and though we have a few here and they can stay open 24hrs. its usually the same ole clientele....drunks, woman drunks, people looking for dope, people selling dope and etc. And I'm not a church person so its almost like running into someone at our local Walmart is the best shot!:p

It doesn't matter, if it happens it will happen, but at the very least I'll be on my vacation with my 10 year old son just us for a whole month renting a vacation home, its hard working up here but the pay is good. I have had all this vacation paid for months ago, now its just waiting for winter to roll in and shut down my seasonal construction job. We are definately going swimming a lot! I grew up on an island many years ago and up here swimming pools are as rare as hens teeth;) or are there folks with indoor skating rinks? lol Luckily for me I'm not fat cause my job is pretty demanding so except for being whiter than normal I really look forward to hitting Blizzard Beach! Maybe a couple of days at the rental homes pool first to get a marginal tan for both of us first so we don't get sunburnt.

Last time I was in Orlando it was dec. 2001, pretty warm days, no rain and usual temps were mid 70's low 80's, perfect! Just a lot of ozone and some allergy problems that I have never had in Alaska but Claritin should be able to handle that.

I'm currently working on the theory that the best way to meet people who would be interesting to spend time with are to do as much as I can of things that I find interesting and to keep my eyes open for kindred spirits. I'll let you know how it works. ;)

Mr D--have a great time at Blizzard Beach. I could float around on cross country creek for hours.

Hi All! - Happy Sunday :)

Pin Wizard - Reckon you must be psychic!!

'Timing is EVERYTHING' you said and how right you are!! Went to the local pub last night and lo and behold who should walk in but a sort of ex of mine (you know one of those on-off-on relationships that never seems to get off the ground!) who never fails to make my knees turn to jelly, we had a quick chat and that was it, he sat with his friends, me with mine ... end of story I thought.

BUT then this morning (at 2.20am!!) he rang me and left a message on the answerphone!! Said he'd been messed up recently but seeing me again gave him a jolt and he really hoped I'd give him a call!! :bounce:

Rang him this morning and we had a good chat, and, everyone keep your fingers and toes crossed, hopefully we're getting together soon and he's ringing me in the week - here's hoping!

Mr D - Sounds like you and your son will have a great holiday!

Disney 845 - Wow, sounds like all is going well with you, long may it continue with your 'friend' :)

Coaster Addict - Keep us posted on how it goes when you visit Jellyrolls and PI, I'd never really considered WDW as a way to meet people but I'll try anything once!! :)

Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Astrid x :wave2:

Thats all too true! I really think thats the best way...Its a bummer sometimes living here in Alaska, its basically still a frontier, where I live north of Anchorage there is a community of about 20,000 or so, one small moviehouse, a mall of sorts, a Walmart and a couple of shopping centers. Sure we get a lot of tourists in the summer but its also when work is the most demanding for me, my hours are often 12+ 6days a week then, even this sunday morning I'm off to work reassembling a bucket loader engine.

My goal in the future is to have another home in Florida for wintering, say from dec- march, we have usually 6 months of winter and though its been warmer than usual these last couple of years its still winter with ice covered roads sometimes as late as june.

But the air is clean, no ghettos, low crime rate, lots of wildlife, good jobs and affordable homes. So thats why I stay here:)

:( Oh, let's not go there! Thumbs down to that one. You and your son will have a great time in Orlando. Enjoy the swimming!

That's right. And I've heard that if you're looking for certain things in a person, then become that person yourself. You will attract others like that. ;)
