We'll be using them this coming Saturday for our first ever trip to the World. With everything going on with the posts on the board, I'm really starting to wonder if I made a mistake choosing them. Can anyone give me some sage advice?

I've never had a problems w/ them and have used them at least 5x....of course I don't know what happened that they now have **** every time you try to type their name. I'd sure like to know if someone could fill me in! But I can only say positive things about your ride. We last used them the end of January.

I believe on another thread it was explained that the company getting the ***'s broke policy about advertising on the boards when they were not a sponsor or something like that. Hopefully a mod will trot along shortly and either confirm that or correct me, but I think that's what the deal was.

I have only used Your Ride for my transportation and will be using them again in 17 days. They have always been wonderful. Thom has e-mailed me to reassure me everything is fine. I have nothing but good things to say about them.

Did Y**** change hands recently?

They have received so much praise in past years. With so many good comments on this board they wouldn't have to advertise let alone "spam the board".

Any car service can have a mishap (accident, traffic jam, driver tardy to punch in). These boards have had an occasional bad word about every service I have heard about.

You just have to have a backup plan, the easiest being allow some time leeway and be prepared to call a cab for the return trip if the car service doesn't show up.

Just stay away from those services that have given customers a hard time about refunds if you needed to call someone else in a pinch. Better yet, try not to prepay.

There is another thread in which i believe the reason is that they were "spamming" the threads with posts promoting themselves. It should be on page two or three.

This was what was posted on the other thread.

I know that some of you have been seeing ******** in the place of certain websites. This will show up when a company spams these boards to advertise their own organization. This is not censorship and is not due to the opinions of those of us on the boards, but the result of a company that has broken boards policy. This is only done after repeated warnings to the company in question.

Guidelines for posting:
5. ADVERTISING: The only commercial advertising permitted on these boards, are those that are contracted through the site. Any posts that are deemed as advertising for a commercial interest will be deleted.

Youride was owned by "Rabbitt" who had a good rep. on the boards however I beleive it has been sold by him.

After posting the above quote from the moderator which answered the question, I recieved a PM from a rep of ******** stating that it was the previous owner that was spamming the boards and speaking poorly of the other companies. The person stated that the previous owner has since sold the company and been blocked out of the boards. I could obviously not personally confirm or deny this, but I will say that about a year ago there was a thread where it appeared that the previous owner was posting under another name and hyping his company while trashing the others. If they have been sold to new ownership, I would assume this problem was fixed. I think there will be possible problems or mistakes with any company, so good luck to all.

I had a very bad experience with them on my last trip -- had used them two times before when Rabbit was in charge and had very enjoyable experiences.
What happened to me is that the driver who was assigned to us picked us up at the airport (without the car seat that I had requested twice -- told me he forgot it when he switched cars. He also had the wrong name on the sign -- took me a while to figure out he was there for us) was not the same driver who picked us up at the hotel for our return trip to the airport. Apparently the driver who was supposed to pick us up subcontracted us out to someone else. The return driver was rude and surly, his car was dirty with half open soda cans, and he left us with our bags in the middle of the drop-off lane at the airport. When I reported this to the company, I was told that this never should have happened and the original driver would "no longer be working for him." Well, someone else reported the same thing months later, so I guess this is commonplace. When a driver works for a company, I assume that the company has checked the driver out, including his driving record, etc. I might as well flag down someone off the street to drive me.
I guess my point is this (yes, there is one!:) ) -- I don't know where the fault lies with the spamming and the he said/she said stuff, but my confidence in this company has waned. A lot. I want to start off my vacation without any worries about my driver being there and the driver being who he is supposed to be.

I also rec'd a PM in regards to the previous owner spamming the boards...I can say that in all the times I have used your ride I have never had a bad incident and have been always quick to recommend them... however, I am now somewhat concerned. My only thought is I would hate to penalized the new owner if it was not his fault, that certainly would not be fair. I think I would feel someone more secure if I knew what was really going on and had some questions answered.....Why did Rabbit sell the company for one...who was caught in regards to this "spamming"...I mean Rabbitz does have a user CP w/ his name so if it was him it couldn't be too tough to figure out. I've seen recent posts by him so why would he still be allowed to post if he was spamming....and why bother to spam for a company that it no longer his?? It doesn't make sense.....Somehow I think many of my questions will not be address as I have seen in previous post Rabbitz has failed to answer questions as to why he sold the company....if someone could shed some light may it could put us at ease...or at least arm us w/ knowledge when we decide to make our ressies.

Ok, with all the concern going on I emailed Thom, the new owner. He has assured me everything is fine and I will be picked up in just 16 more days!!! I have every confidence in him. I have always recieved a prompt reply to my e-mails and he has answered all of my questions. I am also going to book them for my March girls only trip once we have the dates picked. I have always had the best service from them and I am sure it will continue.

There are quite a few posts from Rabbit around 9/10/03 where Rabbit was bashing other transportation companies...see the post below from Rabbit. I know I had a go around with him on the boards because he stated that "Your Ride" was the only transportation company that was in good standing with the Better Business Bureau which is an outright lie.

This go's out to nickiblade..
This is Rabbit. I used to be the owner of "********" Transportation. And a lot of people on the DIS broads know me. I talk to "Jim the Limo Driver" I used Jim for two years and never, never had a problem with Jim or his service!!
Now to tell you what really happen..Thom call Jim to do the job and Jim said OK so when you call and Thom told you Jim was going to be your driver at that time he was right. Then Jim called Thom back later and told Thom he forgot that he was booked on another run. So Thom called "Mohammed" to do the job and told him to say that his name was "Jim" BUT Mohammed called another driver to do the Job. And to say that his name was "Jim". The problem is the new owners of ******** are not taking any responsibly for there Mess ups and blaming it all on the drivers. And I'm very sorry about all the complaints on the DIS boards about the bad service from ******** Transportation. When I was the owner I did care about "YOU and SERVICE" and so did all of the drivers that was with ******** Transportation.

Here are a couple of other posts involving Rabbit....

I don't know if this will help you or not but i found out that rabbit has sold his comany "********" he only had two or three vans and may be one town car. rest of the drivers of the company are sub contractors (which means someone else or some other company is going to transport you instead) this is going on behind the scene or the inside story. I come to orlando almost every month, and limo drivers gives me the gossip! I have been using happy limo for the past five years and i am very happy. when you call to make the reservations with your ride, ask them how many cars they have and how long have they been doing business? (may be two years) rabbit who used to work as taxi driver and then worked for tiffany, finally sold the company, coz they had too many problems and also got kicked off this dis site i believe... also try mousesavers.com for discounts.

Before you start to talk about something you don't know any about "CHECK IT OUT FIRST"
I also told all of our Clint's that I used driver that own there own cars! Happy Limo also has so many BAD reviews that they can't get on the BBB.And 2nd. Happy Limo does use sud contractors because they us the same drivers that I was us back then.
Have a nice day...
Rabbit

I don't buy that quote...I think it is misleading by the original poster (not you Linda)...almost ALL the limo companies use subcontractors....it has nothing to do with the quality of service....I'd be interested who posted that originally...I've seen several posts that were suspect. I've PM Thom as well and he has assured me all is well....I'll have a report soon but I'm sure it will be fine!

Just to interject here --
I don't know that all limo companies use subcontractors, and when I told Thom about my experience (with Mohammed subcontracting my fare out), he told me that it was unacceptable and would not happen again, when, in fact, it did. In my case, the use of a subcontractor most definitely DID affect my quality of service.
Like I said before, I don't know who was spamming or why Rabbit would comment on a company that he no longer owned. I really don't care who owns the company, as long as I get good service. My point was to inform the OP of my experience with Thom as the new owner.

Ltltee--

I'm sure the use of a subcontractor could affect your service just as a bad employee would. My point was not well communicated (my fault). What I intended to say was that using sub-contractors is a norm in that kind of business. My DH uses sub contractors in his business and they are "his employees" and reflect upon him, and unfortunately sometimes you get a bad one and you often find out too late! But if you were told you would not have a subcontractor & one was sent that is a bad business practice and certainly not very honest....I would also think that a sub-contractor then "sub-contracting" out would probably be frowned upon in that business! I would at least hope so with security issues. I did not see the entire thread so my apologies if I offended you.....the part that appeared misleading was that the limo companies don't use sub-contractors...I'm sure most do!

mep319 --
No offense taken at all!:)
That's exactly what happened -- the subcontractor was subcontracting out. I might not have been clear either! We weren't told about it ahead of time; a different driver just showed up for the return trip. I was told that it was not an acceptable business practice by Thom, but it happened again to another poster. Like you said, there is a security issue.

I've got to make a decision about whether to stay with your ride or not. This is beyond frustrating!!!!!!

Now I'm reading that their refund check bounced???????????

Saw that too....I don't remember seeing this many complaints in January when we went...It is concerning!
