I have had a crick in my neck for like 3 weeks off and on. I went Monday and the doctor "manipulated it " (felt like he broke my neck) and told me it was very tight and if I wasn;t feeling better later in the week, come back.

Well, I barely can move it, so I went back to day. He said that I am all knotted up and now he is sending me to physical therapy next Wednesday. WHat the heck am I suppose to do until then?

Just give me a precription, muscle relaxer, or something and fix it quicker.....I know it may not be the best, but surely I would feel better!! I know, you can not go ask for a prescription....but I wish

My neck hurts and is stiff. Next Wednesday better come quick. My Dad thinks it is all stress related.

now you have an exucse to just watch tv all day

~~Hands Carol an ice pack or heat pack (the item of her choice) to gently place on her neck~~

Hope you get it taken care of real soon!!!!

Target carries a nice microwave heating pad that I use all the time for my nec/back stiffness.

Hang in there, it does take awhile to clear up stiff necks.

herc.

Sorry to hear about your neck. I hate cricks like that, you just can't get comfortable no matter what you do. Hope it just goes away soon.

I have kept a microwave heating pad on none stop lately. I even have it velcroed around me so I can DIS. (Not at this moment, though)

I am just having a whney evening.

LOL! Everytime I have to go to the dr, I hope they don't have to put me on any meds, and they can just tell me I'm imagining any problems.:teeth:

Sorry your neck hurts. Can you prop your neck better on pillows when you sleep at night, or elevate the head of the bed a little bit?

I say go for a heating pad and some ibuprofen which will reduce the inflamation. My friend just started seeing a chiropractor a few months ago for a similar problem and now she thinks she's addicted. She looks forward to those weekly adjustments more than anything else.

Yep, ibuprofen and a hot water bottle. The hotter, the better. Very gently stretch your neck muscles and your shoulders, as gently as you can, but do it. It took a couple weeks, but that's all I needed for the same thing.

I thought I'd better mention that I did go to a doctor and this is what he told me.

He put a heated rice bag on me Monday and today and strectched, pulled, etc.

Today, he said I was just too knotted. I am sure it didn;t help that since I knew what was coming since he did it Monday, I was probably tense. I told both him and th enurse that he "broke" my neck Monday....they both laughed.

OTC medicne doesn't phase it. Maybe I am just getting old.

If you're in that much pain, you should have asked your doctor for pain medication or muscle relaxers! I ask for what I want when I need it! If it gets worst, can you go to Urgent Care? They would probably prescribe something for pain relief ~ at the very least Motrin 800. I'd ask for Tylenol 3 though! :p

You can always make your own heated rice pad by filling a sock with rice (tie the open end of course) & putting in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time till it's comfortable for you & throw it around your neck ~ 20 mins on, 20 mins off.

Good luck, I sure hope you feel better. I'm sure it is stress. I know you have a lot on your "plate" too right now from all your previous posts.

Disney Dad Says................................... I think a bottle of Jack Daniels, and a nice Birnbaum or Passporter will help pass the time. You can fly, you can fly, you can fly!!!

Do you know of a good chiropractor? I'd never been to one before just this past year. My mother's boyfriend is a chiropractor and he can usually fix my headaches and knotted up muscles. I'm wondering now why I never went to one before. Sounds to me like something is out of whack and if they'd put it back it would all calm down. Just a thought.

My insurance will not cover a chiropractor. The doctor that I say manipulated my neck and upper back on Monday and tried that yesterday. I was just too tense or something to relax enough for him to get it to do what he wanted.

darn! It was worth a shot. It's terrible to hurt like that.

Have you ever tried yoga? I get a bad crick in my neck/shoulder from work, and do yoga every night to stretch out the muscles. Otherwise I can't sleep. Of course, it's not a BAD pain... But it still helps!

Disnee Dad Says...............................................Jamsmom, You aren't into voodoo or anything like that are you? Less than a day after my post, and my knee is all sore, so bad I can't climb stairs without the rails!

The good thing, there is a good thing about this?, is that it has happened about four or five other times.

I just thought, I post last night, kinda making fun of the situation, a little levity if you will and I wake up, and can tell "it's"
going to happen!

I guess no more jokes about pain, except my own!
Takes about 6 to 8 days to go away.

Hope you feel better quickly, I mean really quickly!

Me, too! ALong with everyones else that is having neck, back, leg and joint pain. We are all way too young for this :)
