Okay Aussies and Kiwis, what shoes for WDW?

I have just been to Kathmandu and purchased the coolmax socks - they were 50% off -(although I never believe original prices) $15 for 3 pairs.

Did you notice whether they also had them in children's sizes? I tried to call them and ask today but they didn't answer as were too busy in the sale so then emailed to ask but have not heard back.

I bought size 2-5 for my boys. I think that was the smallest. They were in packets of 2 -$10

Yep Travelmum - I have bought the Coolmax socks for my sons in Size 2-5
( come in black/grey, and silver/white) I purchased a big load of gear last week, free postage and it was delivered in 3 days.

I wear my Sketchers...it's comfortable and if it rains, it doesn't get wet on the inside.

I've taken Crocs to the World as well. I tend to use that around the resorts and around the pool. I've also tried sandals. In the end, the Sketchers are the ones that I'm most comfortable in and that allow me to stand and walk all day without any issue.

I second the Sketchers recommendation! I live in my Sketchers, and they are the one shoe that I can wear anywhere and do anything in and never get sore feet.

My pair are a few years old now (and still going strong) but they are very similar to this http://www.shoebuy.com/skechers-bikers-virtue/433188/922007?cm_mmc=cj-feed-_-none-_-none-_-none

I'm a woman's 12, totally get it!!!

Yay, a fellow "well endowed feet" person! I'm only a 10 but have had so many struggles with shoes throughout my life that I hate both my feet and shoe shopping. I couldn't find any shoes big enough to fit me at the Sketchers outlet in Vegas and the salesperson looked at me like I was some kind of weirdo when I asked for a 42... And once a shoe salesman here in Perth said to me "we have a special section for people like you" when I was struggling to find my size in the "normal person" section... people like me?! RUDE!

:

I too live in my Sketchers which are very similar to the ones you have and are also old. I got them on my last DL trip which was nearly 5 years ago now. I have a pair of black ones and a pair of white ones and both are in great shape except for the velcro fastenings. The velcro on the black ones is nearly worn through at one place and the velcro on one of the white ones has almost lost its stick. In fact, they are my main priorty of new shoes to buy when I'm over there so I hadn't intended to take my old ones away with me but maybe I should for WDW!

There is a croc sandal called "cleo" that I wore for the whole week at WDW. They have a small arch support and nothing between your toes (ie not like thong). I brought good walking shoes along but the sandals were so comfortable that I kept wearing them.

I LOVE my Croc cleos! They are almost worn out now after three years. I wore them every day at Tokyo Disneyland (which is almost the same size as the MK) with no problems. Don't like the look of the normal Crocs, but the Cleos are awesome. They also dry really quick which is a bonus.

As for what I've worn in the parks at other times; Vans and my current sneakers have always been good. Will be purchasing more Cleos soon though and will break them in before the next trip :)

Crocs Cleos seem to be out of stock here in NZ and I think they have been discontinued. I have found one shop that has a pair of size 7 Black left and I've got them to hold them for 24 hours while I think about it. They told me about the Crocs Patra which is like the Cleo but a more narrow fit and, as I do have narrow feet, I wonder if that would be better for me. Has anyone ever had Crocs Patra sandals?

I was going to buy some skechers the other day at my local shopping centre - $79 - but decided to go the outlet shop at Homebush instead -

So I drove down there today (about 30-40mins) bought a whole bunch of stuff that I dont really need, a hoodie for my son that is too big, boardshorts for the other, that may be too small (hey they were 50% off)- bought lunch for DD and myself- but NO SKECHERS!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Sometimes I waste so much money trying to chase a bargain - I really should have bought them the other day at the local shops and stayed home today -

Ah... I can relate to this!

I always have a pair of diana ferrari supersoft flats/walking shoes, and I usually wear them until the soles wear out! Most of them can be worn with or without socks. At WDW, I alternated between my supersofts, sneakers or my snow boots depending on how cold it was. The warmest day we had at WDW was only 24 degrees though...

I received an email from buyinvite.com.au this morning. They have Sketchers for $40-$45. Aust based site. You need to sign up giving them an email name and password. I'm getting DD a pair of Mary Jane styles for about $40. She's a size 5 already!!

They also have Ecco shoes listed. Ends some time this week.

I signed up and then, when I logged it, it says there is currently no sale :confused3

I managed to get the Coolmax socks that we were discussing from Kathmandu in the size 2-5 which will do fine for me and DD13 and will be just a bit too big (but doable) for DD10. However, can't find anywhere in the country that stocks them in children's sizes for DD6. I can find them online on U.S. shopping sites but they won't mail internationally so figure I could get them delivered to POR. Those that have had things delivered to resorts before, how far in advance did you do it? :confused3

You could use HopShopnGo or Bongo and have the socks shipped to them and then forwarded on to you. That's what I do with anything I am buying that they won't ship internationally.

I have never used that service before so it's new to me. I have just looked on the HopShopGo site and see that I have two options: "Buy for Me" and "Ship for Me". Which do you do?

Actually, have just had a look at the postage rates charged by HopShopGO and, while it might be good for a large order, as it's only the socks I want, I won't do it because it would make them very expensive pairs of socks! They are US$7.50 a pair which is already a lot for a pair of socks for a 6 year old! :scared1:

Wow your feet must be tiny!
I dont know if its that important to have special socks for a six year old - they dont sweat like adults - I would buy new ones that fit well, and dont bunch up, and no bumpy bits, such as a toe seam.

I know I havent been yet, but sometimes I think I am overthinking everything, my boys are on their feet all day, everyday and never complain about sore or tired feet - I hope they will be OK with their dunlop slip ons

Me, on the other hand.......its actually my back and hips that give me pain after walking or standing for any length of time. I know I will be the weak link in my family.

I walked the Sydney City to Surf last year, and while I finished, I thought I was going to end up in a wheelchair - my feet were OK, but my hips felt like I had dislocated them, my 70 year old mother however was fine :rotfl:

Ha ha, no I'm a Size 7 but the Kathmandu sales person said that the size 5 on their packaging corresponds to a Size 7 in U.S. shoe sizing. Sure enough, they fit me perfectly :)

You are probably quite right about that - I just feel guilty that I've gone to the effort/expense for the rest of us.

I suspect that I'm doing a bit of that and I know my family think I am but I think that is what frequenting these boards regularly does to you! :rotfl2:

At home I live in Haviana thongs but in WDW I wore them for a day and really felt it. I ended up sticking with my Asics trainers and they were fine. It wasn't all that hot over there most being 32? averaging 28? So I did runners and just did thongs on days when I knew we'd only be in the parks for a few hours.
