I don't think this has been discussed and I have to start looking for something to wear to my DP (even though it's not booked yet!):lmao:

So, for Escape brides...if you're not hiring the special bus...

what does this mean exactly? What can you wear?

I mean, say you were wearing some short or tea length dress in White or Ivory? Are you allowed in? My wedding dress will have a sweep train, so I know I can't wear it in...but if the rest of my guests are still wearing their dresses (none long), I want to wear something fairly nice and dressy as well. What I mean is, who's to say if your dress is or isn't your wedding dress, you know? I mean, if I was wearing one of those short dresses and had my hair up and took off my veil, it would just look like a fancy dress, you know?

What do you guys think? I need some help, opinions and advice please, I want to look special and like a bride (both Randy and Stan will be there)without wearing my wedding gown.....:confused3

LET'S BRAINSTORM IDEAS!!

What have other Escape brides worn to their DP's?!!??! I'm sure this has come up before....

As far as I know you can wear your dress to a dessert party even if you are an escape. You must use a limo/bus/town car through Disney to enter Epcot backstage and then you are allowed, or at least when we looked into escape that was the rule of thumb, I don't think it has changed.

You CAN wear your wedding dress to your Dessert Party if you're an Escape. :thumbsup2 Back in the day, when Escape couples were discouraged from adding DPs, that wasn't the case, but there are no issues with it these days.

The only thing preventing you from wearing your dress would be if your venue is deemed too far from the International Gateway for your group to walk but you refuse to charter transportation. Then they might tell you that you will have to make your own way to the DP site and that you can't wear your dress because you will be "onstage" too long or something...

Carrie, since youre' the Morocco Bride...what do you think? As of now, my DP would be in Morocco...do you think that would be too far?

When i asked my Sales person, Doreen, she said I couldn't unless we hired the special bus, which I am not going to do....

I have not asked Tanis as of yet though...thinking the answer would be "no"....

if i were you, i'd ask tanis. sometimes we get different answers from different people at dftw...

Ask Tanis to check it out.

I know of at least one bride who posted her trip report here and was allowed to walk in through the International Gateway wearing her dress for a DP in Morocco.

My SM said that Disney doesn't like people to walk farther than about France, but Morocco's right next to France. Also, there are other factors in play, like the weather. This may be one of those situations where it could go either way - "Different person, different answer" - so definitely ask.

Also, for a small party, it doesn't have to be buses. You could do Evil Town Cars (tm) or a mini bus or a van - there are lots of cheaper options. :thumbsup2

Heck - you could just get a town car for you, in your dress, and DH, and then have all your guests walk in.

I talked to Tanis today about this and I was told no :(

As an escape bride we get 4 hours in the package because I have 10 people total we can not use our limo for everyone for the DP. But she did say that any guests that already have tickets can walk in and meet us in Morrocco. If you do not wear your dress you can meet at International gateway and walk. But im not sure about the short dressy dress. Let me know what you find out.

Did you ask about just you and your DH riding in backstage while your guests (even the ones without admission) meet an event guide at International Gateway?

They may charge you for the event guide, but this is done all the time by Wishes and Escape couples alike....

I was told that any one who did not have tickets would have to ride with us back stage (and we all have to arrive together). If they have ticktets they can meet us in Morrocco. But I dont know about paying for a second event guide.

Does anyone know if you can wear your dress to a dessert party if you aren't having your wedding through DFTW? I am getting married at the swan/dolphin, but am having a Fantasmic Dessert Party..and was wondering if there is a way I could wear my wedding dress during the event. I don't mind paying for the transportation if they allow me to do it..just wondering if there were any brides in my situation that have done this. Thanks!

I changed into a short, lace, white strapless dress after my ceremony. I had a reception back home the following week and needed/wanted to keep my dress clean. I left my veil on.
I was good to go! :)

Thanks! This is really what I wanted to know! Can I ask where did you get your dress? I mean, was it a short bridal dress or just a regular party/occasion dress?

I also am having an at-home reception so this idea might work out well for me...

I will ask Tanis this week as I'm suppossed to be talking to her briefly about booking my DP. (I already told her I'd like to extend it) tee hee.

We are actually getting the Model A Ford and my guests will be using the limo...I will inquire about getting extra time on the car and the limo just in case that works as well.

The logistics of this whole thing are starting to get to me!! Last night I had the worst nightmare! :rotfl: ugh!

There are some great short bridesmaids dresses that come in white that I am sure you could wear for your dessert party. Either take off your veil and carry it with you or wear your Minnie Bridal Ears. I am planning on bring my Minnie Bridal Ears to my DP.

Linda

I got my "other" dress at Macy's.

Can't see the bottom but this was it. It was knee length.

Unfortunately the Model A is "show" transportation - you can't use it to actually go anywhere, like backstage. But you could just get extra limo time and ride in one with your guests! :thumbsup2

Lorelei, I am having an Escape wedding so we're hosting a lunch reception in Epcot at Les Chefs de France right after the wedding. I was bummed when I found out I couldn't wear my dress into the park. So I started looking for a white sundress that I could wear into the park and be comfortable in. I ended up buying like 7 white sundresses off of victoriassecret.com and trying them all on and figuring out which one I liked. I found one that is perfect. Its cotton, white, and a short cute dress. If you end up not getting to wear your wedding dress in the park, check out VictoriasSecret.com because they have a lot of selection. :goodvibes

No, you will not be able to wear your dress in the park. Only DFTW brides can wear their dresses to Dessert Parties. I am also a Swan bride and I am having a DP (looks like Morocco). I have no idea what I'll be wearing yet but I'm actually leaning toward casual - like a sparkly bride t-shirt and some nice black jeans, we'll see...

Good luck to all of you!

When I was looking for a more informal dress for my at home reception I noticed that David's Bridal had some cute inexpensive dresses and every bridesmaid dress made by Alfred Angelo had an option of white as a color.

HTH!
