Maybe I don't really want to know the answer to this question but it has been eating at me.

I wasn't able to start calling DCL yesterday until late evening so I know I didn't get the best price. I just have to know though what the price started at for a category 11 with two kids. My DDs are now 9 years old and 8 months old. We are paying $4500 for two adults and my two DDs.

I would love to hear from anyone in the same cabin type with similar age kid (or close).

Thanks!!

Mary

I booked at 1:30 pm CAT 10 for 2 adults and DD15, DD8
I belive DD15 ends up bumping the price by $200 and we ended up with $4643( insurance but not transfers )for a price. When i checked last night the same category was $1800 more.

Im curious though if when all of these people have the reservations cancelled on May 10th if the rates will go back down for those rooms...

how much more did I pay for CAT 6, 2 adults, 1 DD8 for the CA to FL. I tried the DCL website on my lunch hour and it wasn't listed yet. By the time I got back to the website (gotta' work ya know) it was almost 4 PM. I know I paid more than I wanted to and could have had a better price early and it is bothering me. But not enough to make me cancel (yet)!

Anyone out there want to throw me their prices so I can compare?

Is it normal for the price to jump in such small time intervals? I thought for sure the entire first day would at least be a stable price. How naive am I?

For 4 adults in a Cat. 4 with insurance and transfers our total was 9019.56....I don't think its bad at all....espically for 14 days!

:) Hope this helps..

Travis

sandygirl,

the TAs thought the prices would be stable for the first day or two and increase by this weekend ... no one, not even DCL expected the flood of ressies that they got yesterday!!

this morning when I checked the price was 11139.56 Quite a bit of a price increase! I just checked again and not the cat. 4's are sold out! :earseek:

Can't wait for this cruise! pirate: ::yes::

Well....I looked it up on the web last night, and by the time I called DCL about noon today, my price (for 2 of us) had gone up $800. I just checked again (4 1/2 hours later) and it is up another $900!!!

I talked to a great guy at reservations. He said that yesterday, prices were literally going up as they talked to people (once he pulled something up on his screen, it was firm till he hung up!), and that at one point, they had 400 called in line for the next available reservationist....in addition to the fax reservations. He said that they expect to sell out by tomorrow if not end of business today, and that some age groups were already sold out.

In general, he was a wealth of info.....after he quit laughing at me for asking about the August 20, 1995 (ok, I goofed) sailing! He did say that many things about the repo cruises were still in the works....menu, shows, etc....but it would be a blast. They're definitely planning on full ships, and many of us will be veterans from the maiden voyage. He said it's almost totally Castaway Club members.......

Think that's all I know....

I'm really on the fence about taking this cruise. We were all set to go on a 4 day next year (which I was so excited about)but it is beginning to pale in comparison to the CA-Fl repositioning cruise--and this board makes it worse!!!...lol

Oh well, I do have until the tenth to decide --convince DH :)

we can't even get a comparison anymore .. we booked cat 7 for the CA to FL cruise, and all cat 6 and 7 are "gone" as far as the website is concerned.

I'm curious to see how many rooms are "released" next Monday or Tuesday as people decide not to pay the deposits though.

All Seasons booked us yesterday at the opening bell. We have a Cat 6, two adults, DD(5), and an infant to be (which probably bumps the price by $350 or so) for $5,689. This includes a 10% discount for using an exisiting reservation that we booked on board last cruise. No air, no transfers and no insurance.

We also have a $200 credit from booking on board and All Seasons threw in another $200 credit. So we are essentially paying $5,289 for a balcony cabin for a 14 day cruise through the Panama Canal. That is $378 per day for an oceanfront room, meals and entertainment. I could not be more pleased and consider this a great deal.

The wait is the only bad part...

when i booked my Cat 10 at 1:30 pm i also did a price comparison on the Cat 6. for 2 adults, DD15, DD8 it was about $7223.56 ( with insurance and no transfers ) and then i was quoted $4643.56 for the Cat. 10

We were quoted $9134.87 for a Cat 6 for 2 adults and 1 Junior but that's with airfare, insurance and transfers. Without airfare it was $7954.67. I figured that I'd go ahead and say we needed the flights.

Not bad at all considering my quote from DU for Cat 4 with 2 adults, 1 child 15 yrs., and 2 children 12 and under = $12,204.45 - and to top it off, DU did NOT get us the main seating for dining which is what we've had for every cruise we've gone on. Note, we put in this request on 4/26 so it's not like it's a last minute deal we put in the system during the rush. We got the quote this morning. Pretty disappointing overall. We'll just wait until all those who have 15+ staterooms reserved throughout 5 different travel agencies return those rooms. Then we'll book through our own local agent.

My theory: If DCL would put a NON-refundable deposit requirement on these specialty cruises, these type of over-inflated, false "supply/demand", price-gouging incidences wouldn't happen in the first place.

Incredible! My "Disney Karma" left me on this one. I also had a request in ages ago with DU. But we did not fare well at all. The agent didn't use our current onboard reservation so we won't be able to get the discount or stateroom credit. DCL won't "transfer" the credit to a different reservation. The agent would have to have used the existing reservation # and modify the dates. The DU agent did not get in at opening bell even though I've been asking for a repositioning reservation since February and had a formal request in since 4/25. Bottom line. Cat. 6, 2 adults, 2 children $8763. That is after DU's rebate. I'm so glad to see that someone had an agent that knew what they were doing.

Hmmm! Remaining calm here while I think I should have never listened to those words...."We have a system in place, everyone will be taken care of."

Breath! Breath!!

We paid $3,682.67 for 2 adults and one (at the time 7 year old daughter) category 11, this did not include insurance or transfers. We booked through DU and got main seating. Wow, two Magic cruises, totaling 3 weeks for us in 2005! I asked my husband if we should cancel the Jan sailing and he said no!

Well, I think the 10% onboard discount seemed to be a hit/miss thing. DCL did NOT have their act together. I did get the 10% on the reservation I booked directly with DCL -- maybe because I asked specifically about it? I don't know.

But, it seems very strange that some were able to use the 10% and some were not. That is just wrong. The policy should be consistent.

Could you tell us what the breakdown was for adult/child? This was modifying an existing reservation and changing to CA to FL cruise right?

Thanks. I'm just out here obsessing at how badly our reservation was screwed up.

Juli . . . Your quote was exactly the same as mine.

Cat 6 2 adults / 2 children age 9,6 for $8783 for the 5/14 cruise.

This was the quote from Dreams and it is actully looking pretty good now.

The lesser quotes in a cat 6 that I have seen are with children under age 3. This is not comperable.
