Ok, persistence paid off on National Car rental

I have learned through this board that persistence can pay off... for President's Week, I just saved nearly $100, off a mini-SUV rental - new Mousesaver coupons sure did help. We have had the older rate for a while now and I have kept looking and playing with contracts and coupons - but many of us know that President's Week is always more expensive. I now have it down to $370. with taxes for 8 days. While this may seem higher to some, we are happy, but will keep trying for more. Thanks for your tips.

I kept trying for my last trip Dec 10 - 17 and never got a rate decrease. I tried for the last time the day before our trip and got a rate $150 less. Keep on trying until the bitter end!

I just came to post about my persistance and saw your thread so I will rejoice with you!

I just tried a mousesavers code with an entertainment book coupon and saved an additional $6 bucks and was able to book at that rate for my parents as well. We booked a mid-size SUV with the Ent. coupon at $141 at the end of Dec, but then rates went up $20-30 bucks before I booked my parents. Today I tried the mousesavers Wal-Mart code with the Ent. book and was able to book both mid-size SUVs for $135.81 each for our 7 day June trip. Feeling pretty good! And since I have 5 1/2 months, maybe I'll be able to get it down even more by then!

kjs1976- How did you use an Entertainment coupon for a SUV? In my book the coupons are only good for up to a full size. Which coupon did you use?
Even if I use the upgrade the site only allows a full size.

Just guessing, but she probably used a cash discount coupon. ie..$20 off a weekly rental.

I've been playing with the mousesaver Wal-Mart code & Entertainment codes and can't come up with anything really great for our May trip...last year, we got an 8- day rental through Dollar for under $119 INC. taxes, etc.! Now, I'm trying to find the best rate for 3 days mid-trip and everything's over $180 inc. taxes...
