I was so excited earlier tonight, after making a reservation for POR Riverside.

But after reading the post about the change of hotels from PORFQ to POR, I am a little concerned about this resort.

Can those of you who like POR Riverside, please reassure me, and for those of you who dont like it, please let me know why?

Its not too late for me to change my ressies if I have to.

Thanks for any and all info.

:confused3

Don't change it!! POR is awesome!! We just stayed in the mansions in January and it was the most relaxing place we have stayed at WDW. DH says it is the best resort in Orlando and he loves it!! The beds were comfortable, it was not loud or disruptive, the river is soooo relaxing right outside the door!! Out of over 50 stays, it was the most relaxing stay we have had. You will love it!!!

That was, as far as I know, ONE party's experience. POFQ has about a thousand rooms.

Don't change -- give it a try. My family loves this resort. I tried one time to get DH to try CBR and he said no way he liked POR for the themeing and atmosphere. I find the resort very relaxing and love the boat ride to DTD, it is really nice in the evening.

Everyone has different ideas of a ideal resort for their vacation, so don't let someone elses experience change your plans. Since you were excited to stay at POR I think you will enjoy the resort.

My family really loves the POR.:goodvibes It is a beautiful resort with its many pools and lush landscaping. The food court has a nice selection for everyone, there is a place you can fish, you can take a nice boat ride to DTD, ect... Don't change your plans, give it a try. We did and went 2 years in a row and had a really great time there with no regrets!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I have come to find each person had a different experience. Go and find out for yourself. I have hated resorts others have loved and loved resorts others hate. I think it is a matter of personal experience. Our friends loved POR. I have never personally stayed there.

We did not like it, but many others on here do, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
For one, we didn't like the theming at all. It seemed boring to us and we wanted something more vibrant and fun. Also, when we were walking around, there was nobody there under the age of 60. Perhaps it was because it was a slow time of year, but we just felt very out of place (I'm only 20). I wanted to be able to hang out with people my age, but it felt like my grandma's retirement home. :confused3

We have stayed there in the past - and plan on staying again in May of this year......I would have to say it is my second favorite moderate resort - CBR is the first.

We stayed at POR last June and when we first got there we were assigned a room in one of the mansions (the last mansion which was far out from EVERYTHING). Granted when we first booked POR I requested the mansions, with a preferred waterview room, and was very excited that we got one, until we noticed how far it was from the main pool, food court, ferry, and busstop....and since we have 2 small children, that was not going to do. Plus the room we got had no waterview, not even a glimpse of any sort of water. Therefore, my DH told me to get on the phone and talk to someone about this. I talked to a very nice man at the front desk and explained our situation to him, so he told us that he had a room in the AG section, which I was not too thrilled with because I so wanted a mansion, but once we got to our new room I fell in love with it. The room was on the first floor right infront of the the river, right next to the food court/main building, busstop, and right across from the ferry. The CM went above and beyond and was able to accomodate us to what our needs were, and it was the last week of June.

As for the other thread, that poster went during one of the busiest weeks in March...during Springbreak, so unfortunately there was a problem with their ressie. Now I understand why she/he was upset, but to say that they will never stay in a mod again because of it is just their own opinion.

I stayed at POR in 2006 and had a great stay:thumbsup2 . We are going again in Oct and can't wait:banana: ! We never experienced any of the problems I had read about. Relax and enjoy your trip it will be magical!:wizard:

Don't change it. Everything about POR is amazing! We much prefer it to POFQ. We go back to POR all the time because its just fantastic.

The thread about the terrible stay was in no way accurate, I wouldnt concern myself with it. POR and POFQ are great places.

Listen, Basically any resort can have a bad review at any time. You can stay at a $400/night 4 star hotel and run into lousy people (happened to me at the 4 seasons in Philly last summer. People rave abt the 4 seasons, they will never get another dime from me.)

Unfortunately Disney I think gets overly critique because we fall into the "happiest place in the world trap" and forget that normal, average every day Joes work there and some times the cm's will not be happy.

You picked a really nice resort, go in with a positive attitude and take every thing you read on these boards with a grain of salt.

Happy vacationing!

I love POR! Don't let other people's negative opinions get you all worked up!!! There are nay-sayers for every resort.

In all seriousness, some people spend way too may agonizing on these discussion boards and can't relax and have a good time.

:wizard:

Stick with your POR ressie and have a wonderful time! You'll drive yourself mad listening to all the pros and cons.:rotfl2: You'll have a great time at POR and you'll love it. :flower3:

We've stayed at POR 4 times and loved it. It's very well themed and relaxing. The pools are nice and the food court is large and well stocked with plenty of seating. The CM's have always been nice and mousekeeping was good, not exceptional, but good.

You can have a bad experience anywhere, but for the most part I think it's a rare exception at POR. Have a great time! :thumbsup2

Go and don't worry about it. :)

DH and I stayed at POR (and we are in our early 30's ;)) this past January and we both loved it! We stayed in AB and loved how quiet the resort was and how peaceful it was.

Don't let one person's bad attitude turn you off!

I'm staying there again in Sept with my Mom and I can't wait to return! :goodvibes

Thank you to all who took the time to ease my worries.

SeaSpray your pictures are wonderful. Makes me excited to stay there now. We have stayed at POFQ and CBR many times, and wanted to try something different. We have eaten at Boatwrights last time we were there and loved the theming of the part of the resort we saw.

My DS is 14 so the size of the resort doesnt bother me.

Again, thank you all for your feedback, I truly appreciate it.

Only 66 days till we are there.
