Nov 30 will be my first trip home. I'm very excited!!!

My waitlist ends tomorrow. What do I do now? Give up? Call each day? Am I wasting my time?

Could you tell me your experience with those last few days before your trip?

We're missing November 30 and got the rest (Dec 1 - 5) for a two-bedroom standard. We currently have a one-bedroom stanadard and a bwv studio for Nov 30.

Also, will we who are in the one-bedroom portion all week have to move that first night or will they 'try' to make it so we don't have to move? Do I have to ask for this to happen or do they try on their own?

I'm SO excited to have a kitchen and see my 'home' for the first time but am just a bit nervous about getting to MK, our favorite park 3 times during our trip).

Thanks so much...

Have a great trip home :sunny:
if you really want to stay in the 2 bedroom nov. 30, call everyday for availablilty, even call the day you are going to check in, and you can ask when you check in, but dont get your hopes up to much, then if you dont get the 2 bedroom you wont be to disappointed, look on the bright side:sunny: you only have to move once and you get to stay in the 2 bedroom the rest of your trip. sending pixie dust for your wish to come true:wizard:

To avoid moving the 1BR portion if that's where you end staying, I think you call MS and have them "link" the reservations together

thanks

I agree with wdwstar, When my waitlist ran out in October, I then called twice a day and requested that they check with the Front Desk of the Resort, because at 7 days out, the rooms are basically turned over to the Resort, not MS. I did not check the morning of our check-in because our son is down there on the College Program and I had him go over and check-in early that morning to get the building we wanted. Our waitlist did not come thru, but it was also the first weekend of Food and Wine and the golf tournament was getting ready to start, and it was busy, busy, busy. May you will have better luck, but then again it is Thanksgiving.

However, something that happened that really impressed me about MS. We also had a waitlist for an upcoming trip, and while we were in our studio in October, MS tracked us down and called us at OKW to let us know that our waitlist for the next trip had come thru. I had not asked them to call me at OKW or anything. They just figured out we were at WDW and called us there. I was very surprised at that. I am sure someone called my phone number at work and got my away message that I was out for the rest of the week and then looked in their system and saw my reservation.

Have a wonderful time in your "home". I understand the excitement you feel. It is so nice to have the extra amenities, it seems to make vacation "easier" if that makes any sense.

They start a new wait list at 30 days out, get on it.

I'm not sure what you mean?? My vacation starts one week from today!

I just wanted to know how it works from here on out since I never got the one night I was waiting for.

I have pretty much given up hope but wondered if it was worth calling each day?

Also, I hope that we won't have to move from our one-bedroom on Nov 30 to a two-bedroom on Dec 1? I'm hoping we won't have to.

I'm pretty sure in all my calls to MS they said our reservations are linked so I guess there's nothing more I can do.

If indeed your reservations were linked, you wont have to move from the 1 bedroom portion. Not sure about the studio, since if they could link all of it, they could have given you the 2 bedroom.

Well, since one of the studios is BWV and the rest are standard view, I'm pretty sure my BIL will be moving once.

I was just hoping we wouldn't be moving. I was also wondering if I must call and ask for this or mention it at check in.

I thought that my reservations are linked but I'm not positive.

Thanks everyone!

One question also is if the one bedroom you have reserved for Nov 30 is a lockoff or dedicated. We have had dedicated 1 bedrooms for all 3 of our BWV stays, they have many of them. If it's dedicated, then you will have to switch to a totally different room. Even though they tell you not to do it, I think a call to the front desk at the end of the week may help you with getting the 1 bedroom for Sunday night as a lockoff to your room for the rest of the week.

Wow, now I'm more confused than ever. I thought all BWV one bedrooms were lock offs.

So I have to try and make sure Nov 30 one-bedroom is a lock off and not dedicated. I can't do this over the phone with MS right?

Your saying I should call like Friday and ask for a lock off one bedroom for Nov 30? And I should call BW and not MS right?

I could swear MS said that the front desk will try to get me the same one-bedroom for the week...I guess I need to call and ask for it?

Someone posted the breakout on the # of rooms but I cannot locate it. BWV has about 100 dedicated studios, 130 dedicated 1 bedrooms and about 150 lockoffs. I was told by MS that they actually reserve one or the other when you make the reservation. They would have to because they have how many lockoffs are available to reserve as 2 bedrooms or reserve as a separate 1 bedroom & separate studio.

I would work with member services and as a last resort call the front desk.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll be calling Monday morning about the waitlist and ask what I've got reserved for Nov 30 and if I don't have to move. Then if I feel I have to, I'll call the resort.

Thanks again.

If you're only a week away, call day by day as the second wait list starts at 30 days and at 7 days there are no waitlists. Good luck.

Don't want to spoil any pixie dust, but keep in mind that for you to remain in the 1-B/R portion and not have to move, the following combinations will have to occur:

1. There is a 2-B/R lock-off currently being used by two separate parties as two separate reservations. One party in the 1-B/R portion and 1 party in the 2nd B/R where they reserved it as a studio.

2. The people in the 1-B/R portion will have to be checking out on the day you will be checking in.

3. The people in the Studio portion will have to be checking out the day after you check in.

You're checking in on a Sunday for the 1-R/B and on a Monday for the 2-B/R so as stated you'd need the above combination to occur on those days. BWV standard views are very popular due to the low point costs and many people reserve Studios right up front which means the other portion can only go as a 1-B/R for someone else.

I suggest the following: When you pack your stuff, pack just one bag for all of you with whatever you all will need for just a single night's stay. One set of clothing, toiletries, etc. Pack your other bags with everything else. When you get there, if they say you won't have to move, then just unpack everything. If they say you will have to move, then just unpack the single bag and leave the other bags alone. That'll make your move the 2nd day a lot easier.

We use this technique all the time as we always drive to WDW with a single night's stop on the way. We have a single Hotel overnight bag that DW and I share, and that's the only bag we need take out of the car when we stop for the night. Works great.
