OK creative people .... I need some Mardi Gras party ideas!

Thinking of a party for 30 - 50 people, all adults. But .. not looking for X rated stuff! There will be drinking and partying, but not sexually explicit or raunchy stuff.

So far here's what I have:

- decorations in purple, gold and green
- king cake (finder chooses a consort and the two of them are King & Queen - perhaps to wear special crowns, have some special task, or prize?)
- masks
- beads

Re the beads: I'd like to give each guest a string, then find a game to either exchange beads in some way (and help people get to know each other better), or have it be a contest to see who can get the most beads (with various ways that guests can win or steal beads from each other).

Any ideas about games with beads (or games that can be adapted to beads)? Any other ideas for activities that would lend themselves well to a Mardi Gras party?

Orientaltrading.com usually has a nice selection of Mardi Gras deorations and party supplies, and they seem pretty reasonable.

As far as games...maybe some sort of dice game where certain rolls (like Yahtzee) get beads? Bingo with beads for prizes (personally I hate Bingo, but would play a couple rounds at a party). Really, any game that doesn't take long to play could have beads for a "prize"

just a quick food suggestion. zataran makes a great jambalaya boxed mix. we just add some sausage and shrimp. it's great and can be kept warm in a crock pot for hours. it's a good food to have around if people are drinking.

You have to have some Mardi Gras Music! Great artists like Fats Domino, Dr. John. You can even get the umbrellas they carry when they do the Second Line (I believe that is what it is called)
