DH decided we would spend all the overtime he will earn from his overtime on a project on DVC. Which is great, but now he's looking at the Timeshare Store and Fidelity and pricing things out and he's suddenly decided we should buy enough points to get a 2 bedroom every year if we decide to bring family along, or to go at a slightly higher point week or whatever. . .

I feel like "who are you and what have you done with my DH?" :hyper:

Oh my.

My DB, who is a widow, will be able to come along when he wants, as will any of the younger relations (college age and/or starting their own families), or we can go for as long as we like when we'd like. . .

Oh. My. I never expected my DH to want to buy a DVC, then I thought we'd get just enough for the two of us to go every two years. Now he wants to get enough points to go every year AND bring along the kith and kin.

I'm just :cool1: so pumped!

Awesome. I hope you have many, many wonderful trips to your 'home'.

Quick! Get him on a contract before he comes to his senses! :rotfl2: (j/k)

Really, right? :rotfl2:

We're kind of torn right now. We've figured out that, over time, counting in maintenance, all the ones we like all sort of work out to pretty close the same $$.

SSR lasts the longest, is the cheapest up front and, honestly, so long as we are actually ON property in a tres nice room, we'll be happy. (We drive, so we have a vehicle.) But then, AKL has the concierge floor. BLT is on the monorail and is designed the best. Right now those are our top choices.

Honestly, I think we're going to just go for 150 points. . .we may want to add to them later on, but 150 should be plenty, especially since we go in September and with our work schedules, going every year will be difficult.

Now to decide on a home resort!

I said the same thing with my initial 160. I'm at 435, about half and half at AKV and BLT, and still need more. Welcome to the machine. :thumbsup2

Congratulations on the decision to buy DVC!!

My DH wants to go all the time!! We've only been home a couple of weeks and he wants to go back. Now. I already have reservations for 3 trips in the coming year, Jan, May and Sept. He asks every day, "when are we going back?" Love it!!

We started with 210 and are up to 470 and it's probably still not enough. BLT and BCV are our home resorts.

150 points in September will only get you 4 nights at BLT 2-bed Standard View. Make sure you are getting enough points for the length of stay you want as well. Also, with BLT if you want Standard View they are hard to get if you are not an owner. We bought BLT with 160 points and do 1 week every other year. Already looking to add on as we like to go for a week every year. Small add on contracts are hard to find on the resale market though.

We have 500 points now at SSR because we wanted to bring extended family too. It's great being able to have friends join us. I'm really looking forward to the day when there are grandchildren to treat to the magic!

We started with 300 at AKV so we could bring the family, of course, back then, the Grand Villas were a lot less expensive and we could swing it once every other year. Now we can only do every 3rd year, but as it turns out, the nieces and nephew have different school schedules so we can't all go at the same time anyway. We did get 1 yr in at the Jambo Grand Villa and it was Fabulous!!! Even got to see an Ostrich lay an egg! I went on an African Safari this year and didn't see that!!! Needless to say, we have switched up how we use the points, taking each family on a different year. Decided we can't take mom and one of my brothers at the same time again because they totally disagree on how to take care of his son and it got ugly this past June.

Anyway, shortly after we bought the 300 at AKV, we decided we wanted some points for ourselves and love VWL at Christmas so bought 150 pts in resale. Then we decided that wasn't enough because we would have to skip a year from time to time to catch up on our points since we prefer the 1bds, so we bought another 100 VWL. Now we are at 550 pts between AKV and VWL. And we are still debating buying some of VGF when they become available for just us. We'll see. Right now we have 5 Marriotts equating to 4 weeks, and 550 pts at DVC. We definitely do not have enough vacation time for what we already have :)

Well, the first OT came in, and DH was "put in the Disney account. ALL the OT goes there for this outage."

When the OT stops coming in, I'll know what we can afford and that's what we'll buy with our cash.

I ran all the stats by DH in the OCD DVC spreadsheet I've been keeping, showed him how SSR is set up (I really like it.) and he now agrees that SSR is the way for us to go so long as we can also resort hop. I am still working how how many points to get. I guess I'll just buy whatever I can when the OT is over.:cool1:

(Of course, he reminded me the next project's OT is going to buy a FEMA trailer for the hunting camp, which I am all about - if I never have to use the hunting club's toilet again it will be too soon. :lmao:)
