I'm sure that there are posts somewhere regarding this, but I couldn't find them . . . I need to choose one of these restaurants and I don't know which one to choose -- since this is our first trip, we have not been to either of them . . . so . . .

O'HANA'S?? OR KONA CAFE??

Advice, comments, and/or other recommendations are also welcome . . .

Thank you,
Robin

For the best food Kona would be my first choice:thumbsup2 !!!!!!

If you are taking your kids, then Ohana is a fun atmosphere.

It depends what you and your family enjoy, Kona is a must do for us on every trip. We love breakfast, lunch or dinner at Kona!

Here's another vote for Kona! Although, I have to agree w/ Disney Ron that if you are taking kids, they may enjoy the atmosphere at Ohanas better. We have not been to Kona with our kids (only because they were not with us that trip) but they LOVE Ohanas!!!!

Ohana is an all-you-can-eat experience where Kona is not. Keep that in mind when choosing your restaurant. I'd suggest checking the menus out before deciding.

I've done both and for the food you want to go to Kona Cafe. Check out the menus if a good meal is what you are looking for. For entertainment, O'hana's is fun. When we dine, food is usually the #1 consideration in our choice. Kona Cafe is a must do on our list.

Only advice I can give you comes from my in-laws, who just came back from their Disney trip a week or so ago. They said that out of all the restaurants they ate at for dinner that the Kona Cafe was their favorite. They said the atmosphere isn't anything to write home about but the food was very good.

We're taking their recommendation and giving it a try ourselves in September. :)

I used to say 'Ohana. I like the food and the atmosphere there. But our last time there, was less than wonderful (hard to get waitresses attention, on the other side of the room from the 'action', and we were freezing). The last time we ate at Kona was a great meal with good service. So, now, I'd say Kona Cafe.

Just wondering if Kona's if OK for children. My children will be 8 & 10 but our friend's kids will be 2,5 &7. Are they too young. They are doing buffets with characters all the other nights and the parents just want one night to be a good sit down meal they can choose off the menu. Is that going to be a disaster for them? They also considered the Coral Reef, but I don't hear good things about the food there. Any advice?

Are there children in your party? if yes, what are their ages. It would make a difference in my decision.
I have done both, and I enjoyed both - for different reasons.
'OHana is a warm, lively, fun atmosphere with good - not outstandiing - food. The view over the lake to the Castle is outstanding, much nicer than Kona. The atmosphere and entertainment are lively and fun for children. The all you care to eat meal is very good. If I were a family with children I would choose 'OHana.
Kona Cafe has great food. It was one of my favorite meals. The atmosphere is nothing special, and there is no view at all. It is a much quieter (not quiet) experience. If I were an adults only party I would choose Kona.
I think you will enjoy either.

Another vote here for Kona! OHana was just OK for us - nothing extraordinary. And... I hate peel and eat shrimp covered in sauce. Too messy and not my idea of a nice sit-down dinner meal. Kids would like the entertainment, though.
