My husband and I are taking our two children to Disney World this November and we are currently trying to come up with a list of places to eat. We are on the dining plan and my husband is a buffet lover and we were looking at the menu for Ohana's. My husband is not very adventurous when it comes to trying new foods, but he is thinking we should give Ohana's a try. So here is my question, my five year old son is a VERY picky eater and I doubt I will be able to get him to eat much of anything from that buffet (maybe the chicken and the broccoli? yes my picky eater actually loves broccoli and cauliflower, go figure), but I did read there was an alternative children's menu. Is there really an alternative menu to the dinner buffet for children, and if so has anyone used it and what is on it?

'Ohana is not a buffet. It is served family-style at your table. Also, I'm not aware of 'Ohana serving chicken and broccoli.

Are you thinking of the right place?

I do see broccoli and green peas listed on the new menu.

This is from the menu on the dis:

Sauces: peanut, chimichurri and sweet-and-sour. Dessert: 'Ohana bread pudding a la mode with Banana Foster sauce. Includes coffee, tea and soda. - $26.99 *

My DD3 did not like any of the food served at Ohana's so we asked about a children's meal. The server brought us a huge plate of Chicken strips with fries. It was really big and not a child's portion. In the end, we paid $12 for it which I thought was ridiculous. Be sure to specify that you want a children's meal and ask for the price ahead of time. Had I known, I would have just paid $3.99 at Pop Century for my DD's dinner!

It looks like the price is $12.99 no matter what from the menu above.

Thank you all so much...I was aware that was family style but my hubby still refers to that as a buffet when its all you can eat. I guess I will give my DS the alternate option and let him have some steak and broccoli off of my plate...

When we were there at the end of January, our children were allowed to eat all of the family-style food, plus were each brought a bowl of mac and cheese large enough for the whole family, and there was no extra charge. We could choose from chicken strips as well. Perhaps it depends on the server? Or have they changed things recently?

Yes, the children's normal price of $12.99 is sole children's price for the 'Ohana PM Feast- there aren't typically any special prices for orders of children's food: like the rest of the feast, these are all you care to eat inclusive of the set price.

Irishgrl6975- I was just like your son at his age! The new 'Ohana menu does include broccoli & pea-pods as one of the side dishes, and he may enjoy honey-coriander chicken wings (and the turkey for that matter, that's kind of a wild card skewer that has a pretty round taste all-in-all). If that won't work, there are a selection of children's items available upon request (like chicken nuggets, PB&J, mac & cheese, hamburgers/cheeseburgers, fries etc) that you can order at any point during service without additional charge (and your son can continue to eat off the regular menu, too). If you know ahead of time that your son will probably prefer a children's item, ask at the beginning of service- it takes a small amount to prepare these dishes. As for desert, if the bread pudding doesn't work, servers can bring out separate scoops of ice-cream upon request.

We did 'Ohana during our June '07 trip, and it was one of our favorites. My DD (6) loved the interaction, and there was something on the menu for everyone, kids and adults alike (we were a party of 9 spanning three generations). My kids got hot dogs and fries from the kids menu, and even got ice cream for dessert (they're nuts, I know - the bannas foster bread pudding was to die for!). It ended up being a great evening for us. It is served family style, though - no buffet.

I asked for and they brought a big plate of pasta for my kids... We however didn't get to eat much, since we were busy following the kids around while they were doing the hula and coconut races, etc... They loved the activities though.
