We just returned from Disney yesterday and I thought I would review our meal at Ohana. We eat at Ohana at least once every trip and love it. Our reservation was at 5:20. We gave ourselves plenty of time to get to the Poly to make it on time (or so we thought). We sat at our Saratoga Springs bus stop 45 minutes waiting on a bus to MK. Once at MK we hopped the boat to poly knowing that we were not going to make it on time. I arrived at the Podium and was greeted by a male CM at 5:45. I told him about our problem with the bus being late and he checked us in and proceeded to tell us that they only hold tables for 15 minutes but he would put us in as a standby and that we would probably be seated by 6:25. I have never had this happen. Anytime I have ever been late to a reservation at Disney we've always been put in line for a table but I didn't argue because afterall we were officially late. Anyway, we were finally seated at 7:00 after an hour and fifteen minute wait. After being seated we notice that there are small plastic plates on the table. Our server comes around and tells us that the dishwasher is broken and that we will be eating on plastic plates. She then takes our drink order and brings our drinks in paper cups. Not that I am above eating off of plastic and paper but this is a $35/person meal.

The food finally started to arrive and it was DELICIOUS! The chicken was very tender, the steak and shrimp were yummy too as well as the pot stickers and wings....and the dessert was to die for! I don't know if it was because we were starving or if it was just that good but the wonderful food made up for all the waiting and dishes. We will return to Ohana and hopefully without all the issues.

Thanks for sharing your experience! We love 'Ohana too! That is too funny about the broken dishwasher.

Would you mind reviewing your other meals as well?

I'm so glad to hear that after such a long wait that your meal ended up being delicious! Thank goodness for a happy ending! We were also late for an 'Ohana reservation recently because we were stuck on a broken monorial. The CM at the podium didn't seem very sympathetic (actually didn't utter a single word and completely expressionless. Just checked us in and gave a pager so we had no idea what the wait time might be). Luckily it wasn't very long but some sort of acknowledgement would have been nice! And then we had an amazing meal as well!

we too have been to a Restaurant that had a broken dishwasher...they had sent out for the repair person ...but we still had to "dine" on paper plates...like you said...were we starving or was it really because of the great food...YUP THE FOOD WAS GREAT...
Not the restaurants fault at all..
Thanks for the review

I haven't been to a WDW restaurant where they put you on a standby list for being late. But I don't think I have been 20 minutes late to a restaurant before. Maybe because other people who had an ADR around the same time as you got there first :confused3

Yeah I would not be that happy with having to use paper plates for a $35 meal, but what are you gonna do?

I am very glad to hear the food was delicious. We have an ADR there for our next trip and it will be our first time at Ohana. I'm very excited to try it!

Thanks for the review :goodvibes

I just had a friend go to WDW last week (I believe they ate at 'Ohana's on Thursday the 21st) and they were still using paper plates. :confused3 Not sure why it's taking so long to fix a dishwasher ??? I personally wouldn't care if I had to eat off paper plates though. Heck, I would eat 'Ohana's off the floor if I had to :rotfl:

Good to read your review - I am hoping to book this for Christmas Day and the 180 day window is this week :goodvibes

Yeah, that was me! I just posted about my experience, then did a search to see if it had happened before, and found this thread!

FYI...we went for breakfast yesterday morning, and things were back to normal.

Interesting that it had happened before!

I inspect restaurants and my guess is that the dishwasher was being replaced. Dishwasher repairmen usually get to the food establishments the day they call them. Glad you enjoyed your dinner.
