So I managed to get a OHANA reservation for our upcoming trip (we've never been before). It's going to be a busy park day and it's also kind of our fancy meal (were not on DDP). I always wanted to try OHANA but I am going with 2 picky eaters with small appetites. So here's the question, do I keep the reservation and possibly pay a OOP for two people who might not enjoy it or do I cancel and go to Homecoming which has food they will like?

Have you asked your travelling companions if they are interested in eating there? The menu is available online for them to look at as well.

Yeah, they looked at the menu and pictures on yelp, they just don't know if they would like that type of food??? I think i'm out of luck...

I would probably pick Homecoming if I were in your shoes. I'm so sorry the picky eaters will keep you from trying 'Ohana, it's delicious!

I'm going to have to agree with Missyrose. That's an expensive dinner for two who may not eat much of anything, even if they do like it. And since this is your one special dinner, I'd want to make it one that everyone will enjoy. Save Ohana for another trip with different traveling companions.

I AGREE with Sharonabe and Missyrose. Paying OOP for small appetites (I am not to concerned with picky eaters; the roast beast(s) they offer are pretty user friendly) will make you feel like you wasted your money. We love 'Ohana, but my DS14 is a remorseless eating machine (as am I) and the rest of our part usually make sure we are hungry when we get there.

you just need to stay at the poly someday and get the ohana feast for yourself and let them order off the a la carte menu :) I agree two picky light eaters will probably not enjoy 'Ohana. My son is picky and loved the steak and they brought him mac and cheese as a side, but paid kid price for him too. Unfortunately now he is hooked so even when he is 10 we'll be going back and paying adult price ;). The food is very good and not very challenging at all though, it's sort of like teriyaki, the noodles are very plain. But if they are just not into that kind of food then it's a bust from the get-go.

Are the picky eaters children by chance? If so, they do have some menu substitutions that children can choose. When we last did this, they offered things like mac and cheese and chicken tenders. If they are adults, yeah, you should probably pick something else. Or any chance your group could split up one night so you can experience O'hana?

If the picky eaters are children and you are paying children prices, I would consider it. If you have to pay adult price (which is pricey), I would skip it. My husband and I are going to Ohana's on our next trip alone (which we never do). We will feed our children (14, 14 and 8) before we go out to dinner and they will spend a few hours in the hotel room (GF), while we go and eat alone. I would bring them but I don't want to pay an extra $120 for us to bring them when they are really not crazy about the food.

Thanks for the responses. The picky eaters are adults so no luck with that... I think I will go with the common idea and it will be a pass this time. It looks like I will have to wait.

Would an Ohana breakfast be an option instead? My picky eaters liked the breakfast there. We ate dinner at Ohana on the dining plan but it would not have been worth it out of pocket. The up side is that if they like any of the items, they can keep requesting them. We got three deliveries of the potstickers and the kids left full despite barely touching the meats. The dessert is really good too. Sometimes you are paying for the experience more than the food. Another possibility is to make it a date night so you are paying for just one picky eater, not both of them.

I was going to say the same thing. We all love the breakfast there, it's a must do every trip. That way you get to at least have the experience and then try doing dinner there another trip.

Breakfast is a good idea but we are not really breakfast people. We are rope droppers who eat a snack on the way to the park. Filling them up on pot stickers or one thing they like is a good idea also.

Are they actual adults or Disney "adults" (i.e. 10 - 14 year olds)? If they are actual adults could you split up that evening so that some could go to 'Ohana and the picky eaters choose a different place?

Yes they are actual adults and we could split up but then I would be eating alone... I'm not opposed to it but it's usually QS.

We loved O'Hana but we're travelling with a huge party of 24 with quite a few picky and light eaters. Everyone left satisfied and agreed we would keep it on our list for the next visit. I say go for it!

Ohana's is too expensive for "Disney adults" unless you know they are going to eat the food that is served and eat enough of it. Paying almost $50 after tax/tip, is way too much for children that are over 9 years old that are going to eat a few pieces of meat and some lo mein noodles. Paying OOP is Expensive.
