I copied this menu from wdwig.com. I understand that there is a set price per person for dinner. Is this a buffet or are the starters brought to the table with the skewers? How does it work? My daughter is a little cautious with food but thought that she would like the rice, wontons and grilled tiger shrimp. Any insight would be appreciated.

I have not been there, but from what I have read, it is not a buffet. There is table service, but it is all you can eat. The waiters just keep refilling the serving plates at your table.

Here's a great Polynesian site Tikiman - click on 'The Food' and you see lots of 'Ohana info, including a picture of the table.

But to answer your question, the starters are served family style at your table in little bowls, plates, etc and placed in the center of the table (you'll see in the picture). The Skewers are brought to your table and the server slides off pieces of whatever you want. So your DD can take only what she wants and sample a little if she gets brave

The starters are brought to your table in bowls and placed on a lazy susan. Then, the meat is brought around! It's yummy!

Your DD is also welcome to eat from the children's menu if that's any help. My DD and DS were very happy with their kid meals and the adults thought the adult meal was wonderful, too.
