I just read my all ears news letter and someone reported that the potatoes had been replaced with Udon noodles. Has anyone else ate there recently to confirm this? How sad if it true. I loved those potatoes.

Yes I was there around Easter and it is true that the potatoes are gone. Being someone who has eaten there both before AND after the potatoes, I can say that I prefer the noodles! I was so upset to hear that the potatoes were gone, but the noodles were actually very delicious. Also, since I am a vegetarian, the noodles provided me with more of a "meal" than the potatoes did. I have a picture somewhere of the noodles, I'll try to find it.

I agree, the noodles are much better than the potatoes.;)

What are Udon Noodles? How are they prepared and how would you describe their taste?

Thanks :)

I liked the potatoes well enough, but I'm looking forward to trying the noodles... IF they're still there by January when I get there, LOL. They seem to be making changes at 'Ohana on a regular basis lately.

Are you talking about breakfast? If so, we were just there 2 wks. ago and they had potatoes.

I did not enjoy the noodles at all:worried: What a bummer. The texture was weird and I was expecting more pineapple or something fruity in it as that is how another poster described it. They give you more than enough food anyways though so we didn't mind leaving the noodles to the side. More room for the bread pudding!:rotfl:

I'm also sad to see the scaloped potatoes go. I never ate at ohana before the potatoes but I liked them.

Yes they are gone...we make them at home and they are good! We went to Ohana in early April and loved the entire meal, the new Udon noodles are soooo good

We had the noodles in May and enjoyed them. I liked the potatoes when they had them, but prefer the new noodle dish.

I always looked forward to the scalloped potatoes. How sad that they got rid of them. :(

I never liked the potatoes but I love Udon noodles. I can't wait to go in Dec. I get to make my ADR on Saturday for O'Hana for our anniversary. YAY!

They call it Udon noodles...but it really is not true Japanese Udon noodles which are white and larger. We had the noodles at Ohana's this past spring break trip...love it. Read all sorts of bad reviews, ex...had pineapple in it, has peanuts or peanut butter in it...however, we really enjoyed it. One of our girls, cannot have peanuts due to allergy and one of the chef came to our table and advice us which items had the peanut sauce and the noodles did. So he asked if she wanted some french fries instead. She took him up on his offer.

Ok..back to the noodles...it is like any stir fried noodles that you would get in a chinese restaurant. Except the sauce based was a creamy peanut sauce, on the slight sweet side, with some red peppers, some other vegs. and very small pieces of pineapple in it. You would not have even noticed them. Went with the poly theme for the food better then potatoes.

I have never heard of them before and I am glad you explained it so well :lovestruc

I've never had the potatoes to compare the two but I really liked the noodles. We ate there on May 14th and to me the noodles had a pineapple taste to them.. they were really good. Although I'm a huge potato person and I would've loved to have tried those too. :(

They are hot and so delicious! My family loved both the noodles and the potatoes! :thumbsup2

Anyone else? popcorn::
