We are DVCers and head down to WDW three times a year. My question is for our first night in Dec should we pick Turf Club or 'Ohana? We don't necessarily want to have dinner at a crazy, wild place. We think that perhaps some of the marquee restaurants are overrated, but don't want to miss a great experience at 'Ohana. I was there about thirteen years ago and haven't been since. Was finally able to secure a ressie, but am also interested in trying Turf Club because of their Caesar. Thoughts.:)

Ohana is our favorite. Not because it is the "in" thing right now, but because the food is great! AND the dessert, is a little piece of heaven here on earth.

Haven't been to Turf Club but the menu is very appealing to me. I will get there someday, but if I had to choose between the 2, Ohana would win.

We ate at both this year. Turf Club was an OK meal. Not great, just OK. Worked for us because it was a quiet evening. A Ceasar salad is just a Ceasar salad no matter where it is. Nothing particulary Disney about the restaurant.

Ohana is a really good meal and a completely unique Disney experience. It's not "wild and crazy", really, and the later in the evening you go the quieter it gets.

And for your first night I think Ohana would be great. Dinner overlooking the Castle - if your ADR is at the right time, you can even watch Wishes from the main dining room (they dim the lights and pipe in the music, too).

Eaten at both a few times and prefer Ohana. It is definitely more "wild and crazy" than the Turf Club, but it isn't outrageous.

We LOVE 'Ohana and it's a must do every trip. Go there for a great meal and go the Turf Club Lounge on a different evening for appetizers and drinks! My husband and I spent a stormy evening at the lounge and had a great time together!

we just got back, and did Ohana this trip.. WOW! the menu has changed from when we were there 3 years ago, but it is a change for the better!!

All 5 of us had a great dining experience and cant wait to go back.

We love both! Ohana...well the meats are incredible!

But Turf Club is good as well. We like it so much that the husband has asked me to make 2 reservations for our upcoming trip.

We had the NY strip and an order of the onion rings. A friend told us the buffalo wings were good, so we're going to try them this time.

You can't go wrong with either of these places.

Ohana is a ZOO. Much too much screaming and carrying on to enjoy a meal.

Can't help with Turf Club dinner as we only had lunch there, but I'd vote you go ANYWHERE (except Whispering Canyon) rather than 'Ohana.

THis really speaks to me. We went to WCC a few years back and HATED it. My dd 7 still talks about that place and never wanting to go there again. I may not be for us. thanks so much for weighing in.:thumbsup2

Sure!
Now a lot of people love to see the hula-hoop contests, cocconut races, childrens parades, the screaming MC, etc etc.

But we sort of prefer quiet and there isn't much to be had at 'Ohana. Even when they seat you in the "back" (away from the main room itself) the noise still spills over--and the children marched on by even back there.

I ate at Ohana in March and there was no screaming or parades or loud noise at all. In fact, it may have been the best meal of the trip. Perhaps make a reservation for the latest you possibly can, because I think we ate around 9 pm, maybe all the kids were sleeping? :confused3

We always eat at 5 pm b/c we have twins 22 m and a dd 7. They are in bed by 8. I don't think there is any way of avoiding the loud kids. We have the loud kids.:rotfl:
